Im curious about this 5DPT that I found on the Internet and I'm going to try it starting tomorrow morning! In a couple days I will hit my one year bandiversary. Ive lost 79lbs since surgery, but I lost 80% of that in the first 5 months after surgery. So the last 7 months it's been very slow. I kind of got comfortable with the weight I'd lost, even knowing I had double that amount to lose. I'm def in the green zone because I can't eat much at each meal. I think my problem is not making the right food choices. Eating junk food and eating when I'm not even hungry are my main problems. I've gained and lost the same 10lbs several times over the last 3-4 months. It's just not acceptable. I'm still heavy enough that I should be losing weight faithfully every week. Idk what's wrong with me, but I think I just need to do a reset on my body and start over. I'm embarrassed to even see my surgeon bc I feel like a failure the last 6 months. Once I get some more weight off then I'll schedule an appointment. I do not need another fill, I wouldn't be able to eat anything bc my band is pretty tight. So it's not how much I'm eating at each meal, it's my poor food choices and what I'm eating in between meals. Lord help me! I had such high expectations for this band. I just need to find a way to get excited about it again. Anyone else going thru this or have suggestions for me? I've read thru a lot of the topics on here, but many of the ones I found were years old. Id like to connect with some people who are going thru the same as me.

See my response in the other thread where you posted this. Don't be embarrassed...you're not the only one going through this. Try weighing out your food so you don't overeat. Make better food choices, don't eat between meals. Find something to do so you are not grazing. Go to the gym, work on a puzzle, read, take a bath, anything that gets you out of the kitchen. Also...keep crap out of the house so if you find you must have something to eat, it's healthy. I have fruit, hard boiled eggs, and SF sucking candies at the ready to satisfy those urges. It sounds like the band is doing it's job. Now you need to do your job. Good luck and let us know how it's going.

So today was my first day of the 5DPT. The day went really well, but it's getting close to the time of day that I really struggle. Mindless eating in the evenings is the worst for me. I even got out and walked/jogged 3 miles today. It felt good to start fresh today and I'm thankful that God gave me the willpower to get through today on liquids only. Tomorrow may be harder, but I got this. Exercise makes me feel so much better about myself.

Hi

I was banded in Feb 2008 and lost 30 kg. Was at goal and kept if off for several years. However I have let the same habits that got me overweight in the first place, come back ie eating the wrong food and when not hungry.

I am really disappointed and considering having a sleeve. However, I hear you can just do the same with that.

So my idea is to work on my head and make better choices. Think before I eat and use all the techniques we all know to keep from eating unnecessarily.

Keep trying. We have an amazing tool and need to use it. At least we are not hungry and have to behave like adults, not kids.

Hope this gives you encouragement. I always feel more positive when eating well and hang on to that feeling. Gaye

So I'm on the 3rd day of my 5DPT and it's getting easier. I remember how much I struggled when I started my preop diet. I wanted to eat even though I wasn't hungry. I really struggled the first 4 or 5 days. Then it started getting easier. Well today is my 3rd day of this 5DPT and it's getting easier. The good part is that I know I'm not actually hungry. When I struggle it's bc I WANT something to eat, not need something. I understand the purpose of this 5DPT a little more. It REALLY opened my eyes up to the things I was eating that I had no business eating, how my portions had slowly gotten bigger and bigger when in reality, j still only need that 6-8oz portion or whatever. This has been very enlightening and I have NO doubt why my weight loss stopped. I was eating all the wrong things, even though i was telling myself, 'well I only ate a little of it, it couldn't hurt', etc. When you add up all those 'little' things over a week or month's time...well, they really add up. Deciding to do this 5DPT has been really good for me. I struggled the first 2 liquid only days, but it was good for me. Reminded me of the willpower I have and the excitement that I had when for this process when I first started this journey. Anyway, looking forward to making better choices in the coming days. I'm going to the beach on June 10th and need to set a mini goal to meet by then.

Doing that 5 day thing was great to get me motivated again. I think maybe once a month I'll give that a try. It really got me back into my exercise routine and thinking more about what I'm eating and I've cut out the crap I was eating that shouldn't have been. I'd def recommend it to anyone who is kind of off the path and needs a reminder of why you started this process.

I also started tracking my food again. I had completely stopped doing that.

Thanks for the post. I really can relate to being complacent in your weight loss even though you need to lose more and not really losing for 6 months. Been there!

I thought my fill was good but went to my doctor for my gallbladder and she said "you are going in the wrong direction. Time for a fill "

I was eating the wrong things but my fill level was allowing it. Now I physically cannot eat that junk and need to make better choices so don't feel like you have to do this on your own. See what your doctor says!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
