Hi All, I just got back from my post op and had my staples removed. What a relief! I was hoping I could move to soft foods like some of you are but my doctor said definitely no. I'm still on phase 2 until 2/21. They were very adamant about not having anything with "lumps, bumps or clumps". I told them that had watered down mashed potatoes last night and they said that was a phase 3 food and that my stomach isn't ready for that texture yet, that pieces of the potatoes even fine can get stuck in your staples causing an infection or absess. It's crazy how so many doctors are different.

I'm usally able to get down about (2)1-cup shakes in a day along with about a cup of creamed Soup or broth. Good luck to all! I envy those of you who can have real food this next week :)

How much Protein Shakes are ya getting in. I can only do 1 a day so far.

I Only get 1 down. 1/2 on the morning and 1/2 at dinner and i add ice to it and put it in the ninja... takes away the extra sweet taste and thins it out so it goes down better.

This morning I added 1/3 of a banana... I am horribly potassium deficient and the pills are killing me with this new tummy because they are so big. I cut them in 1/2 and they are still challenging.

Do you not crush your pills? That's what my doctor told me to do is better than swallowing. I'm glad I'm not the only one that is only drinking one a day lol.
I'm not supposed to crush the potassium ... not sure why. I take room other pills and they are capsules so they go down easy. I take a blood pressure pill and it can be broken but not crushed or chewed.
Ooo ok. Well I'm sure things will get easier. ☺️

Went to the doctor for my post op visit. I'm 10 days out. My weight was 228 which I haven't seen in years. I was 233 at the hospital the day of surgery. I gained 11 pounds in the hospital from the IVs. The doc said people usually loose more then I did which upset me because he wasn't taking in my weight gain from the hospital. I'm not gonna lie it was very upsetting. I was hoping for a good job. ????????????

So I had a panic attack because I have not lost any weight since Sunday. :- <

I had to talk myself down and remind me that everything is a process and that my body is adjusting to the surgery too... and give it more time.

Woooooo sawwwwwww!

I know how you feel panic and depression. The doctor told me to stop weighting myself and I have to have my husband hide the scale. Only weight once a week and no more.

When you say replace breakfast what do you mean? Is there some other option you get for breakfast? I'm Protein Shakes and broth all day until Monday.

Either way... don't compare you with others. We all loose at our own rate. We learn from each other and gain insight but we are not all going to be the same.

You be proud of you... forget him. ????

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
