Everyone tells me I'm tooo young, opinions?

Recommended Posts

I turned 20 in April, so I'm in the same boat! Most of the people I share my decision with, think doing it sooner rather than later is better. On the rare occasion somebody shares their doubts I just explain how it's the best choice for me. I realize you posted this a while back, but if you need someone to talk to I'm here!

I am 26 and had my surgery 2 months ago. If I would've had insurance or could've afforded surgery when I was even 18, I would've done it.

This is a big learning time and a huge life changer. I don't think it matters how old you are, this is TOUGH all around!

I wish you luck girlie. :)

I don't think it's really anyone's business to tell you what age you should get the surgery done at. Obviously you're doing this at the advice of doctors and if they say it's okay, then I'd put more of my faith in them than people who have no idea what the surgery is anyways :)

Do what you need to do on your terms. Not anyone else's!

@@dhrguru Regarding #2 -That's all well and good IF you can actually get pregnant. Many of us fighting obesity are also fighting PCOS and infertility and aren't likely to have children UNLESS we lose weight through WLS. If you want children - your best chance is to have surgery when you are younger. I certainly wish I had it many years ago.

I wish I could've had it done at 18... Perhaps, it would've saved me years of self hatred. Good luck and keep us posted.

I was 29 when I had RNY. I turned 30 the next day. I wish I would not have waited. If you have people to help support you along your journey, I would say go for it. You are younger you heal better. Remember no one can tell you what is best for you, but you! Honestly, it's a change in eating habits, but if you prepare yourself you will be more ready. There are support groups online and out in the community to help you along your way. Take advantage of them. Best of luck in your decision.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
