Getting banded tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I am going to document my surgery and stuff here.

I am in my hospital room at Hospital Angeles in Tijuana, Mexico. At the moment it is 10:43pm and i am waiting for my nurse to bring a sleep aid pill (Lunesta i think).

Tomorrow I have my surgery at 6:30am. I am not very nervous about the lap-band itself, but more about the catheter .

The next post I make will be after the operation and I'll probably either be in the Recovery Room or just getting out of it.

Wish me luck :)

Lots of luck!!!

I'm happy for you to be taking care of this situation while you're still so young. You'll do great and won't waste years and years of your adult life battling food and the scales!:whoo:

Hey Tim! It's 1:00 pm Saturday and you're on my mind :-) You must have had surgery already, did you tell us what time it was? I don't think you did. I'm hoping your're safely post-op snoozing off your anesthesia, well on your way to your new life. Do you know what band they used? I got my surgery date scheduled yesterday - Oct 8. Oh well, more about you: I'm thinking of you and sending you well wishes and happy thoughts. Post when you're up to it, we're all anxiously awaiting!

Why worry about the cath? Don't they put that in when you were asleep? I had to be catheterized 9 hours after surgery because I couldn't pee (prerequisite before leaving the hospital). When they started saying "we better get the foley" I started grimmacing...but it wasn't THAT bad. But you won't "be around" when they do it and it's nothing afterward..........

I'm back! I tried to log on yesterday but there is NO internet reception at the hospital. Now im in the hotel so i get "fair" signal strength. Surgery went well. No complications and minimal bleeding. The Barium Sulfate went down perfectly for the flouroscopy. They put a 10cm band in me with a maximum fill ammount of 4cc (i believe).

My port wound hurts the most and it kind of hurts when I burp, but none of the pain is bad. Not really any gas pains.

I get home tomorrow and i'm glad to get out of the hospital. It seems like for the time the IV was in me, I felt groggy and always half-nauseous(like this:tired). But its out and I feel better.

I'm not sure if I'm supposed to drink liquids till im full so I've been sipping Water and watered-down apple juice pretty often.

Thanks so much for the support!!! ;)

Just remember the golden rules of post-surgery....walk walk walk and sip sip sip and you'll do great. Main thing....WALK every single chance you get. You may not have gas pains now, but they could set in down the road a little so be prepared and proactive! Welcome to the club!

Well, let's see. It has been exactly 1 year, 2 hours, and 2 minutes (while typing this part at least :P) since I made this thread. Pretty much my lap-band anniversary.

Since then, I have lost 135lbs. and I feel great. Life has really turned around for me as I have a lot more confidence and much more to live for! :D

Thanks to all who supported me with a reply in past threads and this one. :)

Here is a picture that I made today.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
