Why ask for insurance info if self pay?

Recommended Posts

I opted to self pay for my sleeve surgery. The package price includes 3 follow up visits/lab checks. Why would the office insist on seeing my current health insurance card when I come in for these follow ups? Is there a point to having my insurance info?

Perhaps its just extra security for them to ensure you are who you say you are .....

Who knows? It's a routine question in any medical office; every new-patient form asks for insurance info. Maybe they want backup in case you bail out on paying for some service that is covered regardless of the nature of the surgery? So many things to speculate... Is there a reason that you haven't asked the insisters?

In order to get my surgery on the books before insurance authorized I said I would self-pay if I had to so to schedule me right away. I knew it would be approved. She sent me the self-pay info and it broke down all the bills but also stated "these follow up appointments will be billed to your insurance". So maybe that's a thing? Idk. I thought it would all be self pay even follow up appointments but that wasn't the case. Maybe that's what's happening here.

Oh but you said it was part of the package - hmm, idk. Hopefully if they tried to get paid twice you'd be notified.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
