For those of you with a starting BMI of 50 or more, how long was the wait?

Recommended Posts

My initial consult was Nov 2015, and my surgery date is set for March 2016.

My insurance did not require anything other than proof that I had tried non-surgical options within the last year. I simply printed my billing history from WeightWatchers, and that was sufficient for them. They approved it on the first try. It could be because my BMI is high (it's 58). Good luck to you!

I changed hospitals to DMC Huron Valley from Beaumont. I like Dr. Weiner's bedside manner and support of my mostly plant based diet. I have a surgery date of 3/14/2016.

That's weird because I have PCOS, a BMI over 50 and sleep apnea and I still had to do a weight loss program. I don't know now with my new insurance though because I had to switch insurances midway between.

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. I believe the requirements vary across insurance companies. Do have to do a six month program?

BCBS here now, too.

I believe that is the case with my current plan.

I have BCBS and I only have to do a 3mo supervised diet, psych eval, pulmonary eval and PFT, and a Gallbladder US. I have a BMI of 56 right now. only one more Dr diet visit and then I get my date!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
