Best Birthday Present ever... VSG 1/11/16!

Recommended Posts

So back in mid November, I made the decision to get a VSG. After 6 weeks of ups & downs with so much pre-op testing…. I am finally cleared for surgery for 1-11-16. I am so excited/anxious but most of all determined to succeed with this HUGE lifestyle change. After contemplating WLS for 15 years, I decided it was going to be the best gift I was ever going to purchase for myself. Here is the irony, there was never a set Surgery date in mind and I was confirmed today that I am actually having the VSG on my Birthday. My insurance is horrendous and it would take year at the minimum to hopefully get approved (with no guarantees), work is slow so I fast tracked it as a Self Pay Patient.

Is anybody else getting sleeved on 1/11/16 or the same week? Would love to have some sleeve buddies going through the process at a similar time.

I am actually grateful of all the Pre-op testing; however the anxiety and waiting for results was beyond nerve raking. It still has not set in that this is happening so soon!

Thanks for any tips/advice!

Hi, I am getting sleeved on the 12th. This is my 3rd day of the preop diet. I guess I'm doing ok but I think I miss my food already, lol.

Congrats!!

For some reason, the preop diet has been so much easier than I expected, not sure why. I also think a lot for me has to do with after 15 years of deliberating.... I am finally ready for WLS!!

Best of luck to you and hope we can keep in touch durning this Journey!!

Congratulations! This is the best present you could have given to yourself. I was sleeved last July and have lost about 70 pounds to date. I did it on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Monday. I feel and look great. Here a picture of me 1 month after surgery and the picture with the white top was actually taken 6 weeks before surgery.

P.S. Happy birthday.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
