Confused over Post-op Vitamin regimen

Recommended Posts

I had my sleeve 12/28 and have had no complications, in fact I feel almost 100%. Prior to the sleeve I had a 1 hour teleconference with my Doctor's dietitian where we reviewed all the Vitamins etc I would need to take, plus she sent me a 50 page attachment which also describes the same. On my release from the hospital, they also reviewed what I will need to take. Now comparing notes there are inconsistencies between the 3. I know I have to take a Multivitamin, Calcium (citrate), Vit D and B12.< /p>

Hospital said 3000 mg B12 sub-lengual, the book says 500, neither says what kind of Vit D (as I recall there were several), but do not know quantity of units, ditto for Calcium, not sure how much.

Can anyone help me to set up a daily regimen of exactly what to take and how much?

my hospital gave me all the meds I needed for the first month so let me tell you what I got. note there generic pharmacy versions Centrum chew tabs for multivitamin, calcium 500 + d chewable tablets, Vitamin b12 1,000 mcg tab 1x per week hope it helps you note you cannot take the calcium and multivitamin at same time mult has Iron in it and they will cancel each other out I was told so you must do calcium 3x and wait 2 hours then eat a multivitamin 2 hour window allows calcium to dissolve so the receptors will absorb the Iron

A one a day bariatric Vitamin makes your post op Vitamin regimen so much easier.

I do a Multivitamin, a Calcium, and sub lingual B12. I also have to now do an Iron. My 6 month mal-absorption testing showed that I was low on Iron (I always have been though). Some people require more or less depending on their sitution.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
