Recommended Posts

Hello all

I'm a brand newbee literally typing this from by hospital bed as I was banded today. Really looking forward to my new lifestyle!

Just after some info of everyone else's experience of the weight they lost in the first three months post surgery ?

Thank you xx

It depends on your starting weight/BMI/age/gender. I recommend you don't think so much about # of pounds but more like percentage of excess weight loss.

example - a man with 200# to lose might seriously lose 80-100 in 3 months. If you only have 80# to lose, are middle aged woman, you might lose half or even LESS than that, it's just how it goes.

Comparing yourself to others sets you up for disappointment. I asked my nutrioonalist for "expectations" and she gave me a target range of excess weight lost in 3, 6, 9 and 12 months and it was kinda motivating and fun to meet/beat those targets!

A butt load. Stick to the plan and you'll lose. Don't compare yourself to others. Good for you and welcome to your new life!

Hello , banding is a slower weight loss then gastric bypass. Some times its 1 pound a week more or less it fluctuates . I agree with the other post best not to compare everyone is different . Im just a month and half in so my exercise hasnt been the best but when you are up and about and able to be more active it will come off.

Lost some the first month after surgery, (who doesn't with liquids and mushies) then started to gain it all back...at 3 months I had my third adjustment (fill) and then things started to come off...took me three good fills before the band started to do it's thing.

It was NOT slow for me after that....

But until then all I could do was old fashion dieting with calorie counting and portion measuring....and I stink at that, reason why I had surgery in the first place.

It may have been slow for you and some people, but people need to know, that for others, it is faster than other procedures such as the sleeve.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
