January or February 2016 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Just came back from my Nut appt. it went well. My lab results are back. I have cholesterol and hga1c slightly high. LDL is high and low vit D. Between that and my Hx of arthritis I'm hoping is enough for insurance approval. My weight keeps creeping up. It was 196 when I first went and it's 202 today. Ugh!!! Can't wait to get started on this process. They require a 2 week pre op diet. I have another appt with NUT at beginning of February and also a Endoscopy.

So it's looking like it will be end of March/beginning of April for me.

I had my Pre-Admission 4 hour workshop today. Next Tuesday this time I will have had my gallbladder and sleeve surgery. I am not sure why I was nervous but I could feel myself starting to shake as I arrived at the Doctors office and especially when we went to the hospital next door. There were three of us in the workshop. I am having my surgery on Tuesday as it is 2 procedures. The other 2 are only have the WLS. I still do not have a time but it will be Tuesday Jan 26th afternoon. The Nurse said she would try and schedule it for the first one in the afternoon as the Doctor starts surgery at 12:30. The people at the hospital were all very nice, explained everything to me and understood my special needs. I had to have blood drawn again as my last drawing was one month ago yesterday and they wanted an update. Paid my copay, got my prescriptions and my pre-op one day clear liquid diet. I didn't know until today I will have to give myself an injection each day for 30 days after the surgery. I have never had surgery before nor given myself shots, I am ok now but I hate to see how nervous I will be feeling o surgery day. I came home with a shopping bag full of paperwork I had to sign and others I need to read including a detailed followup schedule for the next 18 months.

Its been 7 months in the making but it will finally be happening and I am so glad and happy and hope and pray with the additional weight loss I will be walking soon. I did start a blog in 2008 when I was denied and continued it when I started again this year. If anyone is interested in following my progress the url is in my signature.

Hi sleeve buddies! I had my pre-admission work done today. Everything went well. This time next week I will be sleeping (hopefully) on pain meds, and all this will be just a memory! I have to get up the morning of surgery at 3am, to be at the hospital by 6am. I am his first surgery at 7:30am. I'm not nervous, I'm excited to git 'er done! Been on this journey since 8/6/15, and it seemed my day would never get here! Now I am a week away and I look back and see that actually is has gone by fast! I'm on day 8 of pre-op liquid diet, and frankly, I can't wait to get rid of 3/4 of this stomach so I don't feel like I'm starving all the time! I am craving meat and banana's badly! LOL Anyone else have cravings for certain foods on their pre-op diet? Congrat's to those who have jumped the fence, and best wishes for those like me still waiting to jump this month!

@@Leslie11 I did the exact same thing! The day of my surgery I was so calm, not nervous at all. Even after my surgery was delayed for almost 5 hrs. Now a week out my Taste is back (still

Not hungry but really enjoyed the flavor of cream Tomato soup) before you know it, you'll be here. Easy peasy!

I'm scheduled for Mon Jan 18! Anyone out there having it that day?

Thankfully my insurance required nothing but a 40+ BMI over a 5 year period. No dieting required. I had the endoscopy, a sleep study just as a precaution.Saw the nutritionist, attended a Nutrition class and did the psych counseling require by my surgeon, I am now approved and ready to go. I know some of you have been waiting for months,

I'm getting pretty nervous, I worry most about dying during surgery! Silly I know but I am always that one that thinks it will happen to them since the percentage is so low! :-/

Start liquids and Protein Powder on Monday. Just have to do it for a week. I'm not stressing on that, I am stressing on when I get home and not screwing up. I keep hearing Small sips every 10 mins. Trying to figure out the definition of small is freaking me out. I guess it is maybe trial and error. One thing I know for sure is i am ready to look good and feel even better! This is something only my husband and I know about. I want to keep it that way. We tend to be hermits in the winter and hibernate, never socializing much in this midwest weather. Come spring I hope to see some surprised looks as the socializing begins again. Thank you for adding me!

Mine was also 1/18. I can't seem to drink enough Water. How are you doing ? And I'm not hungry at all.

My surgery was 1/15 and getting in all my ounces and Water is tough! Some days it's easy other days I feel nauseous and don't want to drink a thing. I haven't felt hungry at all (ever) since surgery. However I have some serious cramping going on that kicks at the worst of times.

Thankfully the post-surgery soreness is gone now (for the most part).

Aw you had yours on my bday ☺️ are you not able to drink so much or simply not being able to sip it without the urge to gulp is the hard part?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
