Jeez! I don't think I ever ate that much in my life.

You guys really could pack it away.

4 before surgery easily. Now maybe 1 if that.

Depends if it was all at once or not. I think I could eat 2 slices. But later I would go back for leftovers and eat one more.

Now? 3/4 of a piece of thin crust. Early out, maybe just a few bites.

Yep I could easily (and did often) eat a large pizza and some wings while drinking a soda. At 6 months post-op, I have been afraid to try it except once for fear of it being a binge food. When I did eat it that once, it was a fancy place and a type I wouldn't normally order and ate toppings of one piece and maybe half of another piece with the crust.

I could eat an entire small pizza and I'd also be having some wings, breadsticks and brownies!! That's right people. Probably some jalapeño poppers too. I had a huge capacity to eat.

Now I can eat half a small salad, and about 1.5 small pieces. Sometimes. Sometimes that's too much and I can only do half a slice. It's different every day.

Here's another visual- before surgery I could eat this before and would:

Now I can only eat maybe half the little hummus and crackers pack.

I used to binge eat and it's physically impossible for me now, thank goodness.

Yeah, I binged too. Now that in officially post-op I don't know what hungry is anymore. After nearly 3 weeks of nothing but liquids.. I don't look at food the same way.

Things even taste better now, but I'm not compelled to binge... Not even a little.

Worst binge for me?

Large stuffed meat lovers pizza a slice of carrot cake and some cordon blu bites with half a gallon of diet tea...

Or

2 boxes of cheeseburger helper with 3 lbs of ground beef & a half dozen cronuts.

Now my binge is like a cup of broth and a Protein shake with a few sips of Water.

  • 2 weeks later...

Before = 6-8

After = Lucky to finish one

Of course, thats a single sit-down to eat. WLS helps to restrict the amount of food we can consume at one 'feeding'.

The challenge is to avoid eating 'little meals' throughout the day.

pizza Hut was like my personal drug. I could easily eat an entire pizza by myself over a 24 hour period. And I didn't just order one pizza, it was usually two, plus breadsticks, cinnamon sticks and one of those humongous Cookies, all washed down with oodles of Coke Zero. I could be stuffed to the gills one minute, and ready to start eating all over again a minute after that. I could eat it hot or stone cold. I was always hungry.

At five months out from surgery I haven't had pizza, bread, sweets, or soda of any kind. I'm trying to eat and live as clean as possible. I know my weaknesses. Now that my hunger has been tamed though it's so much easier. The longer I'm away from it, the less tempting it's become.
