As it's gotten colder here in Michigan, I just can't seem to stay warm... especially at night. I started by buying a heated mattress pad, and today purchased a heated blanket to go with it. It seems crazy to need both, but this is this first time I've felt warm in weeks! My wife thinks I'm nuts, but since we have a king bed she can just keep her side turned off ;-).

Boy, I can relate. Im always cold now. Right now I have on two fleece jackets and I'm sitting under a heavy blanket. I don't mind because in the past I was always so warm.

I used to say I could sweat even if I was naked in a snow drift... but not anymore. It seems like no amount of clothes can keep me warm.

I love an electric blanket! A cold winter night, and it makes the best sleep ever for me. It does make getting up in the mornings hard though : )

Grew up in Michigan but have been in TX the past 8 years. I have always been way too hot... sweating constantly which makes me anxious and causes me to sweat more... endless cycle. One of the first thing I noticed post-op is how cold I felt, and how much less I was sweating. Was up in Chicago a couple weeks ago, temps were around 50 and I was miserable. Had a hooded sweatshirt on with a fleece jacket and gloves, but still freezing.

On the positive side, it will be nice to get outside during the summer again. I've avoided the outdoors the from April thru September the past few years due to the heat/sweating/anxiety.

Use to be my wife's personal heater before my surgery and the heat made me miserable. Now days, she's the one sweating and I'm the one looking for a blanket or sweater. My how times have changed.

I heard from some veterans that we will be colder when we are in active weight loss. Not sure if it gets better in maintenance or not.

One of the properties of fat is that it is a good insulator. As you lose weight, you will feel the effects of cold more pronouncedly. It does not get any better during the "Maintenance" phase. It just levels off. When you are outside shoveling the snow, hand warmers almost become a necessity. Thermal underwear is good. Layers of clothes are good.

I've been actively in the maintenance phase for over a year and still have the same issues regarding keeping warm. I live in NYC but am typing this while sitting poolside in South Florida. My sister keeps her apartment cold as she is a furnace on two legs. Rather than freeze, I brought a long sleeve nightgown down with me this time and between that and the comforter, I stay warm. I never leave the apartment without a sweater as I get chilled so easily. Yes...even in the Miami area, I need a sweater.

So far, I seem to have the same issues as last year regarding being cold. The big difference this year is that I share my bed several nights a week and happily, the heat rolls off him and he keeps me warm at night. So far I haven't needed to go to the heavy comforter at home yet.

I don't know that it will be different next year but so far, no change between losing and maintaining.

LOL! Well, you could look at it this way, you can always put layers on to warm up. When you are hot it really sucks!

I am in that lovely phase where I am freezing 90 percent of the time but because I am suffering from multiple hot flashes daily I prefer the cold.

We live in Wisconsin where it is cold and I just turned the heat on 2 days ago, mostly because my poor husbands teeth were chattering. I simply wear lots of layers and those lovely jackets with the thumb holes to keep my hands warm, them when a flash comes along, I throw all the blankets off, jackets off, etc. I will be sweating like crazy but my hands and feet are literally frozen. Then of course when the flash stops, I am soaking wet and freezing cold!

I swear menopause is my own personal hell! I hope it ends sometime soon!

It's getting mighty brrrrrrr here in BC Canada!!!

-20 right now.

I turn on my heated mattress pad hours before bed!

We just bought a new vehicle yesterday (2016 Sante Fe ????) and the BEST feature it has is a HEATED STEERING WHEEL!!!!!!

(And of course heated seats too!)

Even in California. (36* last night). I built a fire My car has both seat warmers and steering wheel warmers and I take full advantage of that feature.

Alas ...heating pads are in a couple of locations. As are heated blankets.

And some cats on the bed...

March and April sound better and better.

Now I get how Arizona sounds so good to the snowbirds

In PA and I used to rarely wear jackets and never was cold. I am now cold all the time. I guess losing 90 pounds of insulation does that.

I have an electric blanket that I love and take a nice warm shower before bed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
