Is there anyone on here that is a paraplegic ? I am a T-6-7 and cannot feel from chest down . I did talk to the Bariatric Surgery Center here in my state and they have done the surgery on Paras . I would like to talk to someone that has gone through with the surgery .

@@nfjchester - just a thought...

Since the Bariatric center you are looking into says they have done this kind of surgery on other Paras - maybe you could ask them if they could give your number to some post WLS patients. Maybe they would share their experiences.

Welcome.

Unfortunately I can not help you with any advice, but maybe if you contact the different organizations that deal with spinal cord injuries and paraplegic issues, they may be able to get you in touch with hospitals that specialize with those patients to see their approach to the procedure and any special pre/post recommendations and different needs.

Hopefully there is one in your area.

If not, then you can see if your hospital has a similar approach or your surgeon, nurses & nutritionist can touch base with a facility that does.

Congratulations on your decision to have this surgery.

@@nfjchester, I have been thinking about you and what you may need to adjust. The only thing I can think of would be related to your abs/core. I don't know how much you use your abs but that is where I was sore immediately post-op. I had some trouble getting in and out of bed without help because I couldn't fully engage my abs. This is something you will definitely want to discuss with your surgeon. They usually have restrictions on lifting anything over about 10 pounds because of the risk of herniating your incisions.

I hope you are able to find someone with direct experience.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
