Yes unfortunately very normal. You should be taking an antacid (likely a PPI that your doctor prescribed). If you don't have a prescription, call your doctor for it and take Zanctac or Pepcid in the meantime. My understanding is that you take this med for at least 3 to 6 months post-op.

I feel the same if I eat or drink a little bit too much, but it's so hard to judge sometimes.

I take Esomerazole for GERD and I haven't had any problems. :)

I am having this problem!! I am 7 weeks out and no matter what I have severe heartburn all day long. And it makes it hard to sleep at night when your throat is on fire! I have been taking OTC meds for it. My doc said to take one dailyntomorrvent stomach ulcers. Well I've been taking at least three a day lately and I still have it! Any help would be appreciated!

Talk to your surgeon about trying a different medication. Some work better than others and everyone is different. If your surgeon won't work with you, talk to your PCP or a gastroenterologist.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
