Recommended Posts

Hey guys so im sched for VSG 10/22. For some odd reason today after having intercorse with my husband i was crying crying crying. All i could think about was if something were to happen to me on thurs. I felt very odd and having second thoughts. Idk what to do! Someone helpe please. He just laughed about it and made it into a joke but i really was so emotional it felt like the last time i was going to be with him. Plz no one judge me. Thanks.

Why would we judge you? It's very, very normal to be scared to death before surgery. Especially a life altering surgery like this! We all felt scared, anxious, excited, sad, happy.....you name it!

The good thing is that this is a very safe surgery with a very low complication rate. Odds are you're going to be just fine.

Be honest, you're just upset you'll have to wait a few more weeks to have sexy time with hubby again, aren't you??

;)

I'm also scheduled for the 22nd and I'm very nervous too... I'm pretty sure it's normal.

Those feelings are very normal! I had tears streaming down my cheeks as they rolled me into the operating room. Next thing I knew I was awake in recovery. 7 1/2 months and 105 pounds later......NO REGRETS! I have always appreciated my life and didn't realize I could be happier, but I am! Your feelings are normal and justified.....but please don't let it keep you from a life due to you!!

Don't feel bad. That's normal. Some part of you is breaking up with the physical self you've grown used to. Some of us gain weight as a shield around ourselves. I know I did. It's natural to be afraid of losing that sheild, and also facing a huge life change.

Maybe having sex made you feel afraid that you may not be the same, things will never be the same. Some part of you will be removed. But that's not the case. You will still be you but healthier, more physically capable and more alive than ever.

I felt the same way, thats all i thought about, what if i dont make it. I even made burial plans with my mom. Its very normal but you will be fine, your surgeon probably does 1000`s of these surgeries.

Hi, I know how you feel. I'm scheduled for nov 4th and yesterday I went thru fear and anxiety just from realizing that tomorrow I start my preoperative diet, and I felt like I was getting cold feet. It passed and I'm good, but from everything I've read, what we're experiencing is very very normal. I have faith that we'll both be fine......this is a very serious move and it shouldn't be taken lightly, and you're not! Good for you, but know that you'll be fine!!

Very normal so don't feel bad. Think of it has saving your life. Think about all of the positive things that can come from it. If you are a praying person, then pray about it and let it go. Please keep us updated. Wishing you the best.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
