Everyones happy with their sleeve but me

Ive experienced the harmone dump, anxiety, no sleep, scared to eat, hard to meet protien and Water goals. .i cannot wait for this to pass so i can be a success story

How long ago was your surgery? The first few weeks can be rough--hang in there!

9/15...was my surgery date

I have anxiety because i feel like a failure..it all seemed so simple pre op..for the Fluid and protien intake..but the reality of it is hard for me

Hi Anna. I was sleeves on 9/16. What do you find most difficult at this point? Is it more the psychological aspect or actual physical eating?

You're only a month out from surgery--you're not a failure, you're new at this!

Regarding Water intake... Try out different temperatures. Some people find that room-temp drinks sit better for them after surgery, others (like me) find that they prefer ice-cold ones. While some surgeons say you shouldn't use a straw after surgery, mine only said not to for the first week. I carry a stainless steel insulated Hydro Flask water bottle with me all the time; it has a flip-top straw spout. I often use Mio flavoring in my Water, which I find encourages me to drink more. I also like the Tazo herbal iced tea bags (Target has them).

With the protein--try out different brands of shakes, both powders and ready-to-drink. There are lots of different kinds and flavors, and you can order samples of most brands. I like Syntrax nectar and unjury, and I use Premier and Pure Protein premade shakes as Creamer in my coffee.

I understand the fear of adding in new foods--it can be nerve-wracking--but just go slowly, add new foods into your diet one at a time, and stop if you feel discomfort or nausea. There were a couple things early on that I could tell in the first bite that they weren't going to work, so I would stop immediately and try it again in a week or two.

Do you have a therapist that you see regularly? Having someone to talk to through the different stages of the process can be very helpful, and a therapist can teach you how to deal with anxiety healthfully.

I don't know what kind of post-op support you have from your surgeon's practice (I know that those who go to Mexico or pay out-of-pocket often don't have too much follow-up care), but I'd recommend contacting your surgeon and asking if they have any therapists that they would refer you to. Obviously, there aren't many who specialize in WLS patients, but there are therapists out there who deal with body image, eating disorders, etc. that may understand what we're dealing with more than others.

sorry you are dealing with problems :(

hopefully you will start feeling better sooner than later

many other people experience the same above problems

but i doubt that helps how you are feeling now

I was sleeve on 9/25/15 so far I'm doing great no issues???? regarding water&sprite in intake my surgeon said it will be difficult at first due to limitations but eventually you'll be able to meet them. When it comes to juice type Protein Powder I use a little crystal light to give it more flavor also I found a great tasting Protein mix at GNC that you use with low fat milk(5 delicious flavors) called "Quest" and they can be purchased in individual packages. Much success, it will get easier????

I was sleeved on 09/17 and so far so good, with the exception of I think I was moving too fast so I'm scaling back on foods for this week and eating only soft stuff. I'm still searching around for a Protein I can stand. I ordered the unjury sample pack and hopefully those aren't that bad. I also ordered a nurtibullet the other day. Today, I bought some 2 oz red dixie cups to help with my Fluid intake. I plan to keep a tally during the day of how many oz I am drinking to work my way up to 64 oz.

      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
