<p>Jennigan,</p> <p>I didn't like the flavor of Isopure either. I would take half of the 40oz bottle of isopure(alpine punch) and add 20oz of Vitamin Water by glaceau(you can find that in every grocery store $1)making a 40oz drink. My goal was to drink 60ounces of water while adding much needed Protein. Since my surgery I have purchased the powdered Isopure($$$) and once again I had to figure out some way of swallowing it. It smells aweful but without this drink I feel dizzy most of the time(thats the diabetic in me speaking). Each scoop of the powder is 25grms protein and I mix with water/Vitamin water for 24oz. Yesterday I drank 2 of these bottles. I have not yet had a fill yet.... I am 3 months post op. I hope this helps alittle bit. Hugs,</p>

Congrats on Day 3. I am on Day 2. Still a fair amount of discomfort, lots of gurgling and gas. But I'm looking forward to success.

Dutchgrl59 - saw you went to Disneyland post op at about 4-5 weeks. I am going at 5 weeks. Banded 8/16/07. Any problems...little concerned about Space Mtn and Indiana Jones and the incisions/port site. What about eating there? Any hints would be helpful. Thanks. azqueen.

My band slipped because the back side of my stomach herniated up inside where the band was place. The re-banding went much better than the first one, pain wise. I was hardly in any pain at all while I was in the hospital and I haven't had to take much for pain meds since I've been home either. I'm just a little weary that it could happen again, since it has already happened once.

Dutchgrl-

Thanks for the input on the Isopure. I like the idea of mixing it with Vitamin Water. I have continued trying to drink the grape that I bought (I foolishly bought an entire case). It is not good, but it is growing on me a bit. I agree with you that the smell is what makes it taste so bad. It tastes better when I hold my nose when drinking it, although I don't know how practical that is!

I will try the vitamin water mix in order to get in the Protein post-op. Only 4 days away!

Good luck to you, and thanks again for you help!!

Jenni,

Thats what friends are for!

Tropicana just came out with "Fruit Squeeze" just 20 calories a bottle. And lots of flavors. I'm using that now, cause they are 50cents a bottle, way cheaper since I am using so many these days. Keep me updated on what you think when you mix Isopure.< /span>

Hey Dutchgrl-

It is so nice to be able to chat with someone who has been through all of this...thanks again for your help.

I am on Clear Liquids for the weekend. Do you know if the Isopure is allowed on the clear liquid diet? It seems to fit the rules, but I did not remember to ask my doctor about it, and they are closed for the weekend. I am hoping the Protein in it will keep me from feeling light-headed.

Have you had a fill yet? How is all going with you?

Hi There,

I am at day 5 post-op. Yes, my incisions are itching. I try not to touch them so the steri-strips don't come off. The clear liquids were not too bad to deal with. Today I started full liquids for the next ten days.

I have been out of the house since my third day out. I jsut went grocery shopping with my 14 yr old son so he could do the lifting. I am glad to get out and move around. However, when my body says it's nap time...nap time it is. I feel it coming on now!

I am glad it was mention about the light headedness. I thought it was just me. It doesn't happen all of the time, but it happens.

2 questions: Does anyone have a hard time getting water/liquids in? I mean not feeling like drinking? And do you burp after your liquids/intake?

Thanks,

Cyndi

Hi Cyndi-

I have not had my surgery yet, but I have had episodes of light-headedness during this liquid diet phase. I bought the book Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies, which has been helpful, and it says that you may get that dizzy feeling as well as headaches from being dehydrated, so that may be what is happening with you.

I am worried about not getting all my fluids in post-op also. I am not one to drink much already, and I am going back to work as a teacher, which makes it hard to be sipping on Water all day, especially since my principal does not want us eating or drinking in front of the children.

Good luck and feel good!

Thanks Jennigan,

I never made the connection of dehydration and light headedness. I should have though. I start school this week and I wonder how I am going to keep sipping from a sippy cup in front of the students too. From what I was told drinking Water is a full time job.

Jenni,

Yes, the Isopure is considered a clear liquid, which makes it the perfect food post op. I just noticed that surgery for you is this Monday. Well, before I forget...... Good Luck, I'll be praying for you :clap2:. My best tips are to drink(to keep hydrated and to cleanse your system), walk alot to get rid of the gas, use a heating pad if something hurts, take your pain meds and sleep. By day 3 you'll be in the zone. Keep us updated.

Azqueen: I private messaged you about disneyland, any questions? I'm heading to the resort tomorrow with the kids -- can't wait.

Cyndi-

Do you have to drink from a sippy cup, or will a regular cup do? Well, I hope all goes well for you in school! Tomorrow is my big day!

Thanks for your input!

Patty-

Thanks so much for your well-wishes and advice. I will try my best to drink a lot and keep hydrated...going back to work is when that will get tough.

I'll keep you posted on how things go!

Hi again!

I believe I read about the sippy cup thing on this site. It prevents me from gulping down the Water like I want to and forces me to take small amounts. Today I had to take with me to church, because prior to that I felt light headed again. So far, having my sippy has been OK.

Have a good first day of school. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I'm new here...glad I found you all! I feel fine, staying medicated on the Lortab and resting. Trying to get in enough fluids but I'm still sore and have no appetite. Haven't experienced any lightheadedness or anything like that. I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow but not sure if I'll be ready. I'm still very sore and it's a 30 mile drive each way. Hiccups hurt like hell! LOL! All in all, I think I'm doing well. I really didn't expect this much discomfort but I'm managing with the Lortab... My sister had the band in April so she's good support for me. I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to eat or drink but the liquids are fine for now...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
