5 Weeks Post-Op (Sleeve)

Recommended Posts

After 4 weeks I was cleared to begin lifting weights again. I've recently started back with weights and I have noticed an unusual feeling in my stomach when doing squats. Even without weights, it feels like something is moving around inside my stomach when doing squats. Has anyone experienced this after surgery?

I signed up for an 8 week "medical integration" program at my gym (affiliated with a local hospital) to get me back on track and have an assessment scheduled for this program this afternoon. I will ask the person performing the assessment about squats after WLS.

@@SleeveSoon - Please report back on this. It might be important to someone, and I've never heard it described that way before. I hope its not a hernia, but I know they will check, Sometimes the incision sites are still a little week so might be a signal to back off squats and use the leg press for the moment. That and start building more core strength in the interim.

@@OKCPirate - The person at the gym performing the assessment had no opinion on what was happening when I performed squats. She suggested holding off for now on squats and any other exercise that would put stress on my stomach (sit ups, twisting exercise with bands, etc.). I see my surgeon on Thursday and I will ask him about it.

@@SleeveSoon - Good plan, assess the cuts. I was stabbed by one of Noriega's thugs during Operation Just Cause, took a heck of a long time to heal, so I realize cutting into the belly can be a bad thing.

I went to see the surgeon today and asked him about the unusual feeling I had in my stomach when doing squats. Based upon my description he thought that it might be my xiphoid (cartilage at the bottom of the sternum). He said I could continue to do squats, but not to squat too low which is when the feeling occurs.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
