September Sleevers How are we doing?

Recommended Posts

Hi. I had my sleeve done 9/21 and only today, I'm leaving the hospital. I've had complications on top of complications lol! It's been the toughest 3 weeks of my life. It's nice to see how others are doing. I'm happy to soon be able to get into the flow of things. Grateful for this community too. I need support. I feel like I'm weakest I have ever been.

WOW, sorry to hear you've had such a hard time. i hope from here on out it goes nice and smooth for you!

only we know the struggles we are going through.

so so true!!! hopefully as most people on this board say, one day we will all look back and be grateful that we did the surgery. i think for us it' just too soon after surgery to be so uppity and happy. it's a huge lifestyle change and we have to get our brains to get caught up to what our bodies are doing now and that is a b**ch. we'll get there, we have to somehow stay positive right now and find some comfort in knowing that we have each other to lean on for support because "only we know the struggles we are going through"

Yes, I'm grateful I've found this website, it answers a lot of questions I don't even need to ring my doc no more. I hope we get there as stressless as possible ❤️

Sleeved 9/30 and home next evening. No pain but had a hard time meeting Protein and Water goal. 1 day of regret while weak from lack of protein and water. Feeling better each day. Only down 10lbs since surgery but down 1 size. I have low Iron so I had to get iv treatment before discharge and have to get more so my energy is low. I still get out for some air and walking. 1 day at a time.

Sleeved 09.08.2015 - An easy way to get your Protein in is to use GENEPRO Protein Powder. 30gm per tbsp! Tasteless and mixes with hot or cold. I buy mine on Amazon.< /p>

Is the Genepro protein approved? That is awesome that its just a tablespoon. Was it expensive?

So I was sleeved 9/14 and in the last few days I've gained a few lbs. Now before surgery it was normal for me to gain 5 lbs during my TOM (time of the month) so I'm wondering if this still happens after surgery.

Hi All! I got my sleeve on October the 8th. Hope its okay to post on here. I am really feeling I made as mistake as well. Can't get anything down. I take a sip of Protein and then I feel full and tightness in my abdomen followed by nausea. Not sure if this is normal. I dont have any energy either. Trying to stay hydrated, because I know that is a vital part of this whole process. Also, Ive been taking Centrum Silver chewables, which arent bad at all, but was wondering if they caused anyone else fullness like me. I pray this gets better and is something I wont regret forever.

Hi Runner, I can tell you this at 14 days post op all I've had is ice pops sugar free and G2 Gatorade about 24 oz a day. I'm feeling better everyday I was right there with you regretting it so bad!!! But trust me it is getting better. Listen to your body I had to go get Flintstone chewable vitamins because my belly wouldn't let any other one digest . I chew and chew them up but for me that's all I could get down. Went for my two week check up and Doc says I can eat soft fruit now. Hell I can't even do broth yet without it coming up.He tells me just do what you can but blood shows minor dehydration nothing I can't handle. So just keep chugging along and walk walk walk. Walking heals you from the inside out so even if it's in your house try to walk.have a great day

Hey Runner. i had my surgery on 9/28 and i'm STILL trying to figure out if i made the right decision but one thing is for sure, with time it does get better. your body just needs to heal and your brain needs to catch up to your new body limitations. it'll happen just stay as positive as you can. you got this!

Hi Lily,

I haven't had my op done yet, just lurking the board. I'm so sorry you have had such a hard time. Would you mind sharing some of the details of your complications? It's so worrisome to hear about people in the hospital for weeks, unfortunately they don't usually explain what the problems were or why/how they came about.

I hope you are healing every day & getting stronger.

Warm regards,

A

Sleeved on Sept 3rd. Started my journey on May 1st. Since my consultation i have lost 97 lbs. I took the warning that my doctor gave me to lose weight before surgery very seriously. He said that it would make the surgery and healing easier. Im at 6 weeks post of and feel great physically. Metally, eh, could be better. We were all fat for the most part because we liked to eat. Now i do not like eating at all. It has become a job and it makes me sad. Everyone says it will get better so I keep that in mind(all the time). Dont get me wrong, the weight loss and the ability to move again is Tremendous and i would never want to go back to where is was. I do miss enjoying food though.

In the beginning, I had to take very small sips of Water and Protein drinks to avoid the tightness. I'm two weeks post-op now and I can finally drink a "normal" amount of liquid. Good luck.

I have been having slow recovery and issues with food/water. But my biggest problem is if I walk too much I am in pain! My incision sites start hurtin and burning and then in pain rest of the day. How much are you walking tee murray? (If you don't mind me asking) Thanks:D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
