I'm struggling with getting enough vitamins... does anyone have advice on which or the best to take after gastric sleeve surgery?

Has anyone looked into or used the PatchMD Vitamins? Check out their website, looks interesting.

I purchased them for post-op but haven't used one yet since I still have regular multi-Vitamin pills. I've heard really great things though! I'll test one out soon. :)

This video has a good list of Vitamins. https://youtu.be/WmfGuUKB4sE?t=37m32s

Your doctor probably sells or recommends certain Vitamins.< /p>

I use Bariactiv that I get with prescription.

Just remember that vitamins are not regulated by the FDA, so you have to be very careful to make sure you get quality vitamins. Flintstone vitamins are not high enough quality for our needs.

I take Centrum Advantage and just had my first bloods done, post op.

All came back great with no need for any extra Iron or B12.< /p>

Very pleased :D

I have been using PATCHMD since 2 weeks post op. So, roughly a month or so. I have labs drawn mid October and I am very anxious to see if they are absorbing and providing the proper supplements. They are super convenient and 40% off when you use the coupon code PMD40. I will post once I have labs drawn.

I only take Iron pill, omeprazole & Biotin orally now.

Yes, please let us know how you think they are doing, but, I think it probably takes a little while longer to become Vitamin deficient, I'm guessing. I know my Vitamin D was low and it took me taking it for 3 months to get it back into range. I'm assuming the opposite would be true as well.

And 40% off is a great price, I think I'll order me some before that's gone!

I was told Flinstones chewables lol

Yup.

I was told the same thing, too.

Available everywhere, low cost and taste great.

What did your program say? Mine gave us a list of basic requirements and allowed us to get our own. The only requirement was that they not be gummie Vitamins and for the first 6 weeks the multi and Calcium had to be chewable.< /p>

Thanks for bringing these up - these patch Vitamins are interesting as I know there are concerns about the bioavailability of some vitamins and minerals when eaten in pill form - basically how well they are absorbed into the bloodstream from the intestine. With these being administered through the skin, there will be a very different profile of bioavailability.

As I look at the info on the Multivitamin from PatchMD, actually a concern of over-dosing arises though. Despite the fact that bioavailabilty here should be much higher than for pill vitamins, they still are formulating with aggressive dosing. If taken in too large an excess, vitamins can have toxic effects. The fat soluble vitamins - A, D, E and K are especially dangerous as they are not cleared quickly from the body; so there is the risk of accumulating too much, and even if you discontinue dosing, they won't leave your body rapidly.

Here are some recommendations from Johns Hopkins for gastric sleeve patients. See the PDF linked below for full details. They are recommending:

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
