Hi all, I've been reading for about a year while I saved money. Thank you all for sharing your stories that help motivate lurkers like me!

I am 41, 315 lbs, and am going to Tijuana in 6 weeks with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. I start a 4 week Atkins plan tomorrow then my 2 week pre-op. They want me at 290 on surgery day.

I also have to order supplements. Does everyone just order from the dr. Recommended site or do you get your own?

Thanks again! And if anyone wants a buddy, I'd love to go through this with someone.

Welcome! Not sure how those with surgery from Mexico handle their supplements. I got a prescription from my dr for Nascobal which is a nasal B12 spray and they also send you the supplements. It is REALLY expensive and even though my insurance covers it, I am considering changing to an over the counter supplement at the end of the year when my insurance starts over. Do you meet with a nutrionist? I recommend you find one stateside that you can check in with if your surgeon doesn't have that post-op after care. The surgeon or NUT should state at least what you need but really important to get follow up labs from your PCP here. Even with the recommended doses, after my first labs, we made some adjustments.

Hopefully bumping this post op will get some other folks who had surgery in Mexico to weigh in. BUT bottom line is you do not have to buy the brand the dr sells. You just need to get equivalent somehow.

I too will be sleeved my Dr. Ortiz. I ordered the supplements from the company they recommended. I haven't received them yet to tell you how they are. I think you get the Vitamins, the B12 liquid and 3 things of Protein Powder.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
