At what day post op did you start to add egg whites and cottage cheese? I am now drinking Atkins drinks because the premiere were so bad that I could not take one more sip!

For me it was this past saturday I tried eggwhites and it went down okay.. so that would be post op day 9 if I can still count. I have never tried premiere , I have used EAS chocolate & vanilla along with nectar (roadside lemonade, Cappuccino, vanilla bean)

Those flavors got me through 2 weeks pre-op and post op.. nectar Cappuccino mixed with Fairlife non-fat milk was surprisingly super tasty...made me a fan of Fairlife after that.

It's been awhile since I posted here but here my story, I was sleeved on 11/19 the day of surgery I slept most of the day but my tummy was hungry like crazy, every time I got up to use the bathroom I was dry heaving and vomiting until I got zofran utu my tummy still wasn't having that it wanted food. I was nothing by mouth until the next day, I couldn't even have ice chips. The next day I was given pain meds which I barely had any pain and nausea medicine before going home I was given my BP meds and protonix. I had to drink 30mL of Water every hour until lunch came. I had broth. Gelotein Decaf tea and some Protein but I only responded to the Gelotein.

So it seems like I was find holding down everything but my tummy was still demanding something else to eat. I walked the halls and then was released home. Once home I was still hungry and drinking 30mL every hour, drink broth and I continue to dry heave and brink up what my tummy didn't like. It went on like this for another day. Yesterday I was able to do full liquids, the first day I tried pudding it shut up for a minute and I was cool the second day it rejected it. Yesterday I tried baby food that I can have as long as it was cooked and thin liquid form.

Well let me tell you how I ate the whole bottle over a period of time. My tummy gets hungry every 4 hours. So my last scoop my stomach was not happy with, I thought it was gas pains so I figured I would walk it off in Walmart Wrong! !, it continue to hurt. So when I got home a did a gas x strip didn't help so I did some mirlax because now I feel constipated tmi still nothing in return but a sore hungry tummy and dry mouth. I am to scared to eat so I continue to do my ice chips and went to be miserable.

This morning I was awaken by really bad heartburn and dry mouth, so I am sitting at my table at 4:30am eating sf Jello and drinking Powerade zero.

Is anyone able to drink a lot more liquids at one time inside of sipping?

Sorry about the long post.

Nooo apologizes newstart38, thank you for sharking.. sorry you had a rough time post procedure and continue to have some issues even at home.. your not alone, each of us has had some sort of lingering issue or minor setback.. Sounds like your tummy hunger calls though are within reason, the trick is giving it something it wants that it will like. I was similar to you post-op day 2-5 I was not sure if I was hungry or cramping, one time I took 2 doses of cramping meds thinking i was cramping a lot but I was actually hungry. Over time the cramping will actually move either to the left or lower left of your incision, and then your tummy center-right will start to have its own unique space for hunger pain, it will make it easy to tell the difference between cramp and pain.. at first it all runs together.

Now when it comes to food for the hungry new tummy, I too struggle with finding something that my tummy named "Mr. bumble" will live with.. one day I think i understand the routine and the next day he changes it. be prepared, have cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese if you like it, mash potatoes, and Protein Shakes ready to try so you can find something it likes..only take a taste to see if your tummy will like it, you will know pretty quick if it does not (strangely enough)

Since you were sleeved on the 19th, 5 days post op, I think you will start feeling a sense of normalcy over the thanksgiving holiday.

keep up the good work!!

I was sleeved 11/10 and today's my 2 week post of date! Starting puréed foods on Thursday. :) Once the initial pain subsided from the incision I've had no real other complaints. I'm 5'10....

HW 340lbs

2 week preop starting weight 266lbs

SW 259lbs

CW 248.4lbs

It feels amazing to be under 250lbs. I enjoy somewhat active things and remember certain snorkeling excursions, Water slides, horseback riding, zip lining....having 250lb weight limits. I've never been able to go horseback riding for that reason ((fear of hurting the horse! lol)) My 100lbs loss reward is going to be a trail ride. :)

Sleeved 11/10 too! I'm starting puréed tomorrow. My NUT considered cream Soups and SF pudding a full liquid so I've HAF that already. I was worried I'm not losing enough. I'm glad to see we have similar weight loss stats! I'm 5'7.5" SW231 CW219.6. No pre op diet. Good luck to you! Also does your main incision still hurt? Mine does. :(

you are most welcome,

For me it was around day 3 or 4.. but here is the kicker, I am back to sipping, or larger sipps because I of trapped air :).. when i get a air bubble it hurts a bit, so I have dialed back my gulping to larger sips..

So sipping is not a bad thing, even for someone like me more than 10days post op..just stick with it.. and take the meds they provide, if you have nausea meds use them, and of cousrs the cramping and spasm meds if you have them. I did not have have acid reflux so that was the only med I did not take during the first 5days.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
