Best (unflavored) protein powder

Recommended Posts

Was wanting to get some advice if anyone has it on the best Protein Powder out there. Specifically unflavored; I would like to be able to take something with me that I can add to any "regular" portions of food I might be eating (example: sprinkle in soup), that doesn't make it taste gross. It's also important that it's of decent enough quality to mix in well and not clump up. I bought a $17 container of Protein powder at Walmart called Body Fortress and it was just disgusting, I ended up returning it (I guess you get what you pay for).

The top brands of protein powder I've heard of are powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, nectar, and perhaps the GNC brand.

Any advice? If the protein was truly tasteless and dissolved well that would be great.

There is no such thing as tasteless Protein powder, only unflavored -- but protein powder will always have its own, inherent taste. To keep it from clumping, you should mix it only with warm liquids, not hot. Other than with hot liquids, I've never known protein powder to clump if you mix it with a good blender. I used both Unjury and Syntrax and found them fine, though best mixed into stronger-flavored foods to mask the protein powder taste as much as possible.

Some people will claim that GENEPRO is tasteless and mixes into anything -- I personally think Genepro is a complete scam and doubt that it has much if any protein in it at all, but lots of people swear by it and claim good results with their labs and weight loss, so who knows.

Thanks for the tip, I'm looking into GENEPRO and have noticed that it has almost 100% positive reviews on Amazon. When I finish my upcoming trial with unjury I think I'm going to test that.

I have a whole thing of unflavored unjury. I couldnt stomach it. The taste and smell was repulsive. I tried it during my liquid phase and pureed phase and it made me gag.

I now use the GENEPRO and my nutritionist said its good. I cannot taste a difference or smell it as long as you mix it good. I havn't had any issues with it. It saved me during the pureed phase as I could no longer drink a Protein shake, they made me gag and still do. I had my surgery July 20th, 2015 and I am doing good on Protein with just food now. But there are only so many protein rich foods you can puree and still get enough protein.

Have gotten GENEPRO in the mail today, and used it in some Greek Yogurt. Impressed with it so far; it mixed in well and did not screw up the taste.

It's a bit pricey, but if it works I'm sticking with it. Will definitely be worthwhile if it gets me out of the stall. For the first time in a while I'm meeting my daily Protein goal of 60 g.

I like Isopure unflavored. Mixes well so I eat it in my carnation shake, in my pudding, etc.

i have Isopure unflavored, but it doesn't taste that great. Depends on what you mix it with. I don't even need to use Protein powder anymore (I am 11 weeks out) because I get enough Protein from food.

Do you find that the increased Protein intake boosts your weight loss?

I use the Isopure and I completely agree with @@Bufflehead about the pseudo-science behind GENEPRO. However many posters seem to love it. I like adding it to Soup by tempering it in bit by bit.

@@BLERDgirl - I wouldn't any more. They did a reformulation and it gets clumpy now. I found pipingrock.com. Their Protein powder is 1/3 the cost and dissolves well on everything as long as it's not too hot (my Kerug brews at 192 degrees, the powder clumps at that temp, but when allowed to cool for 3-5 minutes, it blends very well).

@OKCPiratev- I don't have any issues with clumping with the Isopure. I will check out the pipingrock. I am leery of changing because it's such a challenge to find things that work with my food allergies. I do plan on trying some of the Bob's Red Mill Protein powders. They are plant based and not cheap, but I would eventually like to go vegan once I hit goal so I'm trying to find things I can begin to transition to.

I use all Unjury products and really like them. Once you get used to the Protein smell, it's easier ...

I don't think it's made an impact one way or the other. I'm only a week out from surgery today and have lost 5lbs. I do feel like I have a lot of energy though and have recovered really well from surgery - so far :-)

GENEPRO is a lifesaver for me.

I can have one cup of coffee so for Breakfast, I drink my coffee & 1 scoop of GENEPRO. 30g of Protein.

Then if I am not that hungry, I will do another scoop later in a yogurt or something.

It has no flavor.

It mixes well if you follow directions.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
