I totally feared the drain, but they weren't nearly as bad as I thought. I had a Tummy Tuck, breast lift/Aug and brachioplasty at the same time. Only needed two drains for the tummy tuck. The first came out in 48 hours and the second 48 hours after that. They hurt like heck coming out, but it was over super quickly!

So both drains were out in less than a week? Nice! Everyone I talked to told me 7-10days some even 14 days.

Yeah they were all out within a week. The output had to be under a certain amount and it trickled off quite quickly!

I've only had a jp drain during my gastric bypass surgery and it was removed on day two after surgery. However, contrary to alot of you, mine was extremely painful removal, they clipped the stitches holding it in place which felt very much like when you accidentally clip the skin next to your fingernails when you cut them and it bleeds. Then the removal itself, very much like a magician with the fabric pulling out of the mouth, was so painful I vomited as the nurse was pulling it out, it was a good couple feet of tubing that was supposedly all in my abdomen. Not fun. The nurses will lie to you and tell you it won't hurt but this is only to prevent you from tensing up before removal.

@@mskami77, when I had bariatric surgery my drain was removed before I left the hospital - THANK GOD! Drains also freak me out, almost worse that the anticipated pain of having another surgery. I am going to have a Tummy Tuck and inner thigh lift in December and I just found a doctor (two hours away) that does drainless tummy tucks. I have a consultation early April, but for me it will totally be worth the drive if I do choose him!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
