@@edie091371 I hope so. At times I've thought about this being a big mistake I can't take back. I put a roast with all the fixings because my son will be over for lunch, and I'm crying on the inside because I know I won't be enjoying that. I try to tell myself, down the road I will be able to try it again to see if it agrees or not. Guess today is not such a good day. Sorry for being a debby downer. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

@@kvoneye You are not a Debby downer! You are human and having very human feelings!! We are not super heroes that are immune to negativity. Each day we will get stronger. I honestly believe this few weeks after surgery is the hardest. I am to the point that I feel nauseated just at the thought of another "sweet" Protein shake!!! Sweet grosses me out so bad right now! Do you like hot tea? I will tell you that I kept reading that hot tea is like magic. I love hot tea but I feel so full from just my Water and Protein Drinks that the idea of another liquid was not appealing. But a couple of hours ago I made a cup of Earl Gray in hopes of settling my stomach. Not only did it do that but it also has given me so much comfort and a feeling of okay-ness again. In two hours I have had two cups... hey, that's 16 oz,of my water intake today!!!

I was given a shot for the nausea, not a patch. The staff at Toronto Western have been great. I'm a bit lonely because I'm not telling friends and family- other than my spouse- and he's at home taking care of the kids. I am looking forward to going home but I'm also a little worried about how to keep my 3 and 4 year old away from my very sore belly. Lol

I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing well. Ok back to walking the halls!

Quick question

I've seen a few people post about Unjury Protein Powder and I was wondering if they are available in store or only online?

@@Jenaenae84 Wow you are doing really well!!!! I haven't weighed yet (didn't want to get bummed out with the weight gain from surgery), going to the Dr. tomorrow for the 2 week check up & will get weighed then. I feel like I have lost a few lbs. but I'm sure its not as much as I would like! Will see! I'm a slow looser no matter what, I guess thats part of the reason I had this surgery!

@@anewme2015 I'm sure you do feel lonely not feeling like you could tell everyone! I told everyone but I can tell you there is some people I wish I hadn't just because of there attitude, other's have been very supportive & usually have a story of someone they know who were very successful! That is why this forum is so great, we are here for you, going through this same journey. Some days are better than others! Hopefully the kids will understand Mommy has a belly ache! Best of luck to you when you get home!

I've got glue on mine and was told to leave them alone. Got more pain on right side,I'm guessing that is the side they put the stapler in.

Today I feel blah. Almost 1 week since surgery. My weight today is down to surgery weight. I'm having a hard time with Protein and I'm tired of sipping. Help.

The sipping is hard!!! It seems like it takes up your whole day just waiting for the next sip! I can tell you I'm 12 days out still sipping & am looking forward to my Dr. appointment tomorrow to see if I can have some refried Beans or just something besides my shakes!!! I should be on soft food!! I don't have a puree phase like some do after 1 week. I don't know what the difference is. I had the gastric bypass. Do you go into a puree phase? You could call the Dr. & see if he would allow something pureed to help make it to the next phase. Have you tried a little of sugar free Jello? Or chicken broth? I have the Unjury chicken broth & its helped me make it this long having something savory to sip. Hoping for the best for you!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
