% of stomach removed?

Recommended Posts

I have com to realize that not everyone's surgery is the same, in that, we all didn't loose the same percentage of stomachs. I asked my doctor to remove less of my stomach because for me I need my stomach for work.

But as I sit here trying to get in my liqiuids- I need four sittings to get one box of Protein Shake down. I wounded to myself.... Then if her removed less of mine and I can hardly drink, I would simply die if he has removed the regular amount.

Do you know what percentage of your stomach was removed?

Sometimes I wonder if this was the only way. Did I exhaust all other options? Though I do like not feeling hungry all the time and not eating something and feeling bad about myself after I did. I don't know . But since I can't go back I might as well should go forward.

80 percent of my stomach was removed. remember the sleeve is a tool, it still takes will power, and determination. Hang in there, as you have been at this since 1999.

I have no idea what percentage my doctor removed and how do you really know how much your doctor removed? Also, don't wait for a time when you get more food in at one time. Learn to adjust to the new way of eating. I will fix me a Protein Shake or whatever meal I am having and I will eat/drink until I feel full. I will see a timer on my phone for 30 minutes and eat more. The hardest part for me was, and is, learning to stop when I'm full. I'm sooooo geared to finishing my food. It's a hard habit to break. You can do this.

I have no idea. For the sleeve, they remove the stretchy part of the stomach. Since everyone's stomach may have stretched to different proportions over the years, it is hard to compare apples to oranges.

If your surgeon did as you asked, and didn't remove all of the part of your stomach that stretches, then it sounds like you are defeating the purpose of the sleeve.

By overfilling your stomach you will continue to stretch it out. Maybe not as much as before, but some.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
