Questions about 1 month after surgery and 2 months later?

Recommended Posts

I have a few questions......I'm getting the sleeve done 2 weeks from this Friday.

I have a wedding that i am going to 4 weeks from surgery date,

and i'm going to Disney World 8 weeks from surgery date.

Now i know everyone is different but if anyone could give me ideas of what to expect at the 1 month mark and 2 month mark...as far as weight loss during those times and how long it took you to advance from clear to solid liquids and to soft food and to eating A salad?

i am hoping to get some of this weight off by Disney time to at least making the walk at Disney a little easier and being able to /order/eat fruit or Salads while on vacation verses broth

Thank you in advance

I did, but I worked for it. It wasn't a magic wand, I worked for it.

It really depends on what your plan allows. I was just transitioning from full liquids to purees at four weeks, and was just transitioning from purees to high Protein soft foods at three months out. I wasn't allowed any raw veggies until six months out. So no, I wouldn't have been eating salad either time. Other people have less conservative plans than I did, but I do think it's unrealistic to plan for eating salads so early. Keep in mind that raw veggies are typically among the hardest things to digest and for your stomach to deal with. If I were you, I would be thinking about high protein options (salad is practically nutrionally worthless from a post-wls perspective) that are easier to digest. Things like seafood or chili are probably going to be easier on your still-healing stomach as well as providing more nutrition.

I went to a wedding about one month from my surgery date. I brought Atkins shakes with me and had one while everyone was eating the buffet and drinking champagne. I missed being able to join in,vas the catering was excellent, but I still had a great time and was glad to be able to give the happy couple my best wishes. I also went on a road trip to the Ashland Shakespeare Festival a few months after surgery. By then, I was eating a limited diet of real food as tolerated and I really enjoyed the trip. So my advice is to go forward with your travel plans as long as you feel you are recovering normally, but understand that you will have to refrain from recreational eating/drinking and find your fun in other ways.

My stats are somewhat close to yours. At 4 weeks out I was down about 40lbs. I am 6 weeks out now and down about 50. However, we are all so different from each other, and that makes is soooo hard to judge where you will be at 4 and 8 weeks out. Whatever your loss is by that time I can assure you that you will feel so much better no matter what the scale loss is. Eating healthier makes us have more energy and stamina. I was able to eat some types of salads starting at 6 weeks out. Mainly just spinach, assorted greens, chicken (small pieces) and light dressing. No carrots or chunkier veggies. Like the others have already said, there will be lots of other foods you will be able to eat at that time that are much easier and better choices than salad. I did find a 'superfood' salad at costco that has 16 grams of Protein per serving. It has 7 'superfoods' in it, making it very nutritionally dense. Since you will be away from home this won't help much. There will be lots of different choices you will have by that time. Just go by what your doctor and team has set for you and what feels right with your own body.
Good luck and enjoy your Disney vacation!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
