I definitely experienced buyer's remorse from the day of surgery until about the beginning of my second week out of surgery. I was lucky to not feel sick or vomit or anything like that. My issue were my stomach muscles. The only way that I was comfortable and in no pain or discomfort was if I was lying completely flat on my back. For awhile I thought that I would bedridden for the rest of my life! That made me regret the surgery. Then I started feeling better and saw the weight melting off and became grateful for this tool. I've been stalled for a few weeks so it's been somewhat challenging to stay motivated and upbeat but I just keep telling myself that it can't last forever and that I just have to keep doing what I know is right. You're not alone girlfriend!! Go look at some before and after photos - that may pep you up a bit! It sure got me out of my funk! We're here for you! We're all in this together! :)

When I was first sleeved, I felt distraught, I constantly cried and thought "what have I done to myself" the first two months are tough, in my honest opinion. No amount of training or prep can really get you ready enough for such a drastic change. Once I was moved onto soft then solid foods, I got happier, the weight was coming off and I didn't feel trapped in my diet anymore. Now at 6 months, I feel happy with my decision and glad I went with it. I feel confident and healthier. It gets better!!

There are things I gave up to have this done, and I occasionally mourn them, but the calculus never leaves the front of my mind...the benefits are worth so much more than a good ol' fashioned pigout and the memories of good times they conjure. 10 years from now, the memories you will have will be of looking fabulous and proud, and you'll have an addiction to eating healthy because that's how you will get there. It is important to never take your eye off the prize. Every day is better than the next, even during a stall. Just believe!

Has anyone had any trouble with shortness of breath? I feel that everytime I speak a few sentences, I have to catch my breath. I am 2 weeks post up. Also, I have noticed within the last 2 days that when I breath normally, all of a sudden I have to take in a big breath and then let it out (like I needed to expand my lungs or something).

Don't forget to use that breathing thing they send us home with to especially since you are feeling that way

same exact experience as far as the pain and sleeping on my back. Once the 3rd week started, my pain was GONE and could sleep on my sides. : ))

I was also sleeved on 8/24015. Although I haven't posted anything I have been coming to the Forum to help me feel better. I thought I was so prepared. I read books, forums, and talked to plenty of people. Nothing has gone as planned. : (

I am living off sugar free popsicles, barely staying hydrated, and there is no Protein shake on this planet I can seem to get down. I imagine my body is eating away at my muscles....and then all my hair will fall out because I cant get my Protein in.

I am on the 21 day thin liquid plan. The forum friends that get food sooner seem a lot happier and with more energy. How am I to exercise when I am living off of the tiniest amount of calories?

I am also faced with starting work on Wed.....hope I can figure out protein soon.

why don't you try eating apple sauce, scramble eggs, cottage cheese, mash potatoes?

Keep in mind the statistics of people who lose weight the normal way and keep it off. I believe the hormones in our body DO not let most of us keep it off. I think it's 25% but quite honestly probably lower than that. This is a huge change in the way we have always lived our life, it's going to take a while to get the hang of it. I am seeing a therapist every other week because I feel like I must have some unresolved issues that made overeating a problem to begin with. I read on another post about all the hormones that change after the sx. One lady said she had her period for 2 weeks afterwards . Weird.. Big changes ahead!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
