Weight gain - REALLY?

Recommended Posts

I am 52 days post op and generally have not been weighing myself daily, but started weighing myself every couple of days. I am up two pounds. I have been exercising in the pool daily for up to an hour, have been meeting my Protein requirements and fluids. This is so frustrating!

I had surgery in June and find that my weight fluctuates at different times of day and can go up or down three pounds. If you have had surgery just recently, don't drive yourself crazy. If you weigh yourself every couple of days, make sure it's always at the same time of day - like first thing in the morning. Tell yourself that the number you see is just a snapshot; it isn't you. Stick with what your NUT and surgeon have told you, gather your courage, and move forward. Believe if you do your part, it will all work out.

I weigh myself everyday and my weight fluctuates within a 4 pound range. I was stuck in a class all this week and I gained 2 pounds earlier in the week, and today I am down 1. Weighing everyday has been very important for me because I can see that my weight has fluctuated in the past and I always ended up dropping again.

Also, weirdly enough, when I swim I tend to retain Water. Realistically you shouldn't actually absorb Water, but I swear when I do a swimming workout, I always gain the next day.

Yes, really!

Weight fluctuates. At 52 days out, you know darn well you can't eat enough to gain weight. Just like what was said, Water retention is usually the culprit. Your body is pretty much saying at this point "It's not you. It's me."

If the fluctuations are going to drive you bonkers, stay off the scale and only weigh periodically. If you get to the point where you can see them and understand that they are a normal part of the whole process, then carry on.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
