Burping & Farting

Recommended Posts

I just saw this thread for the first time today. Boy did I need a good laugh. I'm happy to report that my farts (I feel so uncomfortable saying/typing that word, thanks, Mom) have gotten much fewer since my banding. My family is grateful. Also, the only time I burp now is when a pill is going thru the band. I was a real champ before. Mom didn't get quite the daughter she had in mind! Seriously, when I'm hungry, I get horrible pains, similar to gas, I guess. I'm glad to know that's not only me.

Thanks for making my crappy (no pun intended) day better!

Karen

OMG ppl ...there are too many of us with gas issues to NOT say something to some one. It should be written (second page from the last) "If you do not have gas issues before surgery ...you WILL have gas issues after surgery.

Burping is an issue with me. I can burp louder and longer than anyone I know since having this surgery. It's embarassing because I burp so often that I'll burp and not even know it. Then one of the kids will say something like "Exuse you Mom" and I'll be like "Oh, did I burp?"

This is hillarious! I have to say I'm very excited about getting banded on April 1st, but not too excited over the prospect of becoming a live fumigator! Thanks for the laugh!

I have to ask because I've seen it everywhere... what does "bump for so and so" or "bumping for so and so" mean?

Isa, "bumping" just means adding a post to the end of a thread so it will jump to the top of the section. That way people can see it who may not have seen it before. And "DH" stands for d--- husband, usually, with the D meaning "dear" most of the time. Could mean darling, could mean danged, could be well, lots of things.

And just to add my two cents to the topic at hand, I have to say that I'm not aware of any additional gas or burping/farting activity since banding. I certainly have grumbly noises in my tummy and sometimes in my throat, but that's about it. So it's not inevitable--or maybe it's just that it's not permanent. Maybe it did happen to me and I've forgotten about it. ;)

interesting thread!

I was one of those people who farted and burped less than everyone else..

NOW.. I fart and have little burps all the time... ALL THE TIME!!

And everyone notices too... My bragging and putting down of all those who farted so much more than me is now over!

lol

Hey Jack, don't give up; you might yet get to Carnegie Hall. And Sharon, be grateful for your flatulent fur babies -- you can always blame them!

I was banded 10/15/09 and let me tell you , if there was Olympic Competition for farting , I would be on the gold medal podium.. I als belch - long and loud-- it is creepy, but hey halloween in coming up so this might work to my advantage.

My biggest problem, is "gringo bingo"-- I get a rumbling and make a beeline for the bathroom.. So far I have made it on time, but it quite scary.. I have had NO SOLIDS -so where is this coming from??

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
