Hi! I am brand new to this... I had my sleeve surgery on August 4th. I just started having pureed foods yesterday and am wondering about how much I should be able to eat at this point. Also, I think I'm eating too fast...as I get an uncomfortable feeling and some air/burping. Is this all normal? Feeling quite alone in this process.

Hi Caroline and welcome to the sleeved side.

You should definitely eat slower and in my case

I couldn't eat anything that was too hot.

Everybody is different though.

As for how much to eat, just eat slow and if you start to feel full

Slow down really slow and don't eat much more.

Everyone is so different but I couldn't eat more than 1/2 cup of

puréed food at two weeks out,

Let us know how your doing. You have lots of company here.

Oh if you feel naseau try forest peppermint in forest cold Water.

It really is an effective remedy. For gas I use gas x strips.

Happy adjusting

Kathy

Did your doctor or nutritionist not give you a meal plan to follow? You should be measuring everything and not relying on feeling full...which you may not feel due the healing process. The nerves in your stomach were cut and are still healing. Also, you may not feel full until you eat dense protien. My surgeon discourages eating until you are full, he feels if you are full you ate too much.

Sorry, I can't remember the amounts but I think I was eating 1/2 cup at meals for quite a while. Puree your food and measure out 1/2...eat no more than that rather than waiting for the full feeling.

Call your surgeon or nutritionist for more guidance or Google BAG post op diet if you can't call your surgeon.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and on purées. I eat 2oz portions and it takes me about 30 minutes to eat.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
