So...I had my consultation yesterday

Recommended Posts

I saw the NP yesterday for my 1st visit. I'm choosing the sleeve so she went over the basics of that. My insurance only requires the psych eval and 30 day follow up with the surgeon. My psych eval is scheduled for next Tuesday 8/25 and Ill meet my surgeon on 9/16. The surgeon requires a sleep study test so I'm waiting to hear from them on that. I'm to follow up if I don't hear anything in a week. The NP also said that if I get my requirements completed before I meet with the surgeon that she can get everything put together and sent to my insurance for approval and start looking at surgery dates! I'm like WOAH, this is all moving fast for me. I wasnt expecting for everything to move so quickly. Don't get me wrong, I'm SUPER excited just thinking about being a new slimmer me next year but at the same time I'm a bit nervous. I've never been put under for surgery and that scares me a little. The only other surgery I've had was a c-section and that wasn't so bad. But I know in my heart this is what I want. I want to be something I've never ever been in my life....Thin & Healthy!!!

OAN -I've gotten my pre-op diet. The phase 1 liquid diet is optional but I think I'll give it a go. Says to do it for 3-7 days then on day 8 start a low cal diet 1000-1200 cals a day. Time to really get strict on what I put in my body, gotta get this liver shrunk down so everything is a go once surgery is scheduled!

I had my consult on Friday! I have to get an EGD since my insurance doesn't cover bariatric I am having a Hiatal Hernia repair and while they're in there doing that they will also do my sleeve. Any way they were suppose to call me within 2 days and i haven't heard from them yet so hopefully today! I have never been put under either, no major procedures not even a filling so I am with you on the nervous! I don't have a pre-op diet but am just trying to stay under 1400 calories right now just to lose some weight before surgery. Good Luck to you!!!

Have you told many people? I have told a lot of people, my work and church people and my close friends. I am a pretty open person though so that is why I elected to tell. I had my first critic a few nights ago from a friend I told who I had been putting off telling but knew she had already heard. She was very negative and made me feel extremely stupid but I know in my heart this is what I need to do. It bothered me but I am grateful for her response because I know it will not be the last time I receive criticism for my decision.

@@hilaryglynxo I've only told a select few for right now, those being my sister, my husband, one sister in law, 2 coworkers -one of which was sleeved in April, my direct manager, and 3 of my aunts. They have all been very supportive thus far.

I wish you all the luck on your wls journey!

People with their criticisms make me so mad. If you don't have a food addiction, you cannot possibly know what we are going through. Thankfully I have not had any negative feedback yet. I have told everyone I meet and know and even some people I just meet, i have nothing to hide, and if I can just help 1 other person, that would be great. Stay positive and what matters is that we are happy with our decision. I am only 14 days post op, so trying to get used to this new way of eating, good luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
