Total : 70lbs Gone!

I'm so grateful for this surgery. I never thought I would see below 200lbs. I always said if I reached 190 I'd be happy. Now, I find myself wanting to reach the surgeon's 150 goal.

Clothes and self image are still an issue. I find myself still wanting to wear my 3x sweatshirts and baggie pants. I should easily be in 14's... maybe 12's. I just don't feel like I want to wear for fitting clothes. I wear my 16 jeans and think they fit fine... then I take a picture and realize they look super baggy.

I'm having trouble with motivation as well recently. Granted there's a lot going on and a lot of stress right now so I'm hoping it passes and I can feel as good as I was feeling.

I don't know what I need from this post specifically, just needed to write where I'm at and if you've been there or have encouraging words, maybe you can reply?

Thanks

Awesome job! You look great and so happy!

Firstly, I would suggest buying clothes that fit properly and you feel great in. That really helps with goals and motivation. When you look and feel great, you wanna keep it going.

I would make smaller goals at this point to get you to your final goal weight. Excerise 10 minutes more a day. Say you want to lose 5 more pounds by October, or X amount by the new year. If you make solid but smaller goals, the task to get that last push doesn't seem so daunting.

I can also tell you I feel better physically and more confident with my body at almost 150 than I did at 180. You're even taller than I am, so I would think you would at 160. It's amazing the difference even 20 or 30 pounds make!

Thanks :) I'm 5'7" bmi charts say I should be 130-150. I'll be satisfied where I'm in less pain and active, we'll see where that lands number wise. I'm sure 160 or 150 will feel much better and at that point my Dr said he will do a back mri to see what's going on. Until then it's just pain management.

As for clothes, do you ever not feel like wearing form fitting clothes? I feel like hiding in the morning and I wear my sweatchirts, then by afternoon I put on something lighter

Amazing weightloss! I was a band to sleeve revision on 4/27/15 and have went from 211 down to 174.... so u are doing awesome in my book! It is hard for some ppl to take off the fat suit mentally. I agree with previous reply. ... buy an outfit that truly fits and take a picture. Look at it over and over, remind yourself that this thin person has been there all along!!!

Thank you! My birthday is next month and my family is taking me shopping since all my clothes are 3xs still. (I borrowed some 16 pants but those are too big too) I just worry my mind won't catch up with the progress

All I know is you look great now, and I almost think at 5'7" you would look almost too thin at 150. But that's not my call is it? It's what YOU are comfortable with.

It's so hard getting out of that invisible mode for some people. I have never had that issue much, lol. Although I have introverted tendencies, I'm more of an extrovert. So even being heavier, I liked to dress well and look my absolute best.

I'm telling you sweetie, once your family takes you shopping and you are sporting clothes that fit properly and the complements come rolling in about how fab you look, you'll feel a little less like hiding :) You need to show the world how hard you've worked and be proud!

Once you get started shopping.... it's hard to stop! I'm telling you, girl! I have to exercise so much self-control when it comes to clothing sales! I am not at goal yet so that holds me back a bit.

Yeah, you go and get a couple of cute outfits and you'll feel better about your appearance. And if no one else notices or comments, you just give yourself a wink because it's all about you anyway! ;)

Well first I would like to say congratulations! I also want to let you know that you are not the only one who still has issues with body image/ clothing. I am down 40 pounds and I don't think I look any different and honestly I think my 2x clothes I was wearing still fit fine! Maybe it's all in my head, because everyone tells me that I look way better. I am sure you experience something similar. I kind of feel that it won't hit me until the majority of my excess weight is gone. What do you think? Was there a point you looked in the mirror and said "wow, I look good" or something to that affect. Well I wish you luck and I am sure you will make to goal. You have already done a tremendous job!!!!

I do get comments from people out in the world that are supportive and happy with me. It doesn't happen unless I'm in form fitting clothes (makes sense).

I lost a lot in my face right off the bat so that made a huge difference for me personally. I could see those results easily. My face hasn't changed much since then. I would look in the mirror and say "wow, I look good" about it. But the rest of my body is harder for me to see. I'm sure the shopping trip will help. Pictures certainly do.

Because of everyone's great support, reading other posts and looking at all of your stories and before/after pictures, I'm getting my motivation back. I plan on stepping it up this week and future weeks again so when that shopping trip comes I feel prouder of going (yes, I am proud of the 70lbs :) -just been slacking the past week and know I can do better :)

40 lbs is awesome! Thanks for your kind words and keep truckin with us!

You know what's funny, after I wrote this post I went to my HIIT class and the trainer said "wow, your getting skinny!". It confirms my belief that I just don't see myself the way others do. It gave me a great boost to keep going though!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
