I've only been able to have Jello, pudding, Water, Popsicle, no broth! But today I was able tolerate Tomato Soup. But I still haven't had a bowel movement. But I have been able to go to the bathroom. Is this normal? Also I accidentally fell asleep on my stomach, will that be a problem because my belly button is a little tender now.

It may take a few days for you to have a BM. Take stool softener or Miralax to help if you haven't gone in a week from surgery. you are not taking in any solid foods so don't expect to go yet. I would be careful around your incisions but I would think if you feel fine you are fine.

Be careful about falling asleep on your new tummy, it is safe but just not very comfortable.

I absolutely hate broth and I would never want to eat it. So no, you don't have to.

I have been sleeping on my stomach since day 4. It is really the only way I can sleep, and once I did that it seemed like my recovery really picked up.

Lamb broth from Whole Foods is delicious. All the chicken broths, no matter how expensive suck.

I fell asleep no matter how i had to do it, a heating pad helps if you have pain in the incisions. my husband would prop pillows up around my back or my sides to prevent me from pulling those muscles and making more pain than i needed. (he is a nurse so i trust his ideas :D )

eat what your book tells you to eat, and if you cant, try something else. i havent had a sf popscicle or broth since i went to "stage 3" and i dont want one lol

i didnt have a BM for about a week and a half, keep in mind you arent really eating anything. I am 13 weeks out and still only have every other day or so. if you feel any pain or bloating take a shot of Miralax or drink some Smooth Move tea, both work nicely in a day or so.

just listen to your body i was very frustrated the first month, i was sore, cranky, tired and wasnt losing weight....but remember your body is going through the shock of surgery and trying to repair itself, dont stress yourself out more, do life one day at a time! one sip at a time with your Water and Protein.

congrats on your surgery, it does get better!

friend me if you want a buddy to chat with :P

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
