Today is the first time I seen these photos side by side. I was going for looking healthy. After looking at these I have questions.

weight 199

Weight 140
Honestly need some feed back. I know my view of myself is still distorted from the weight loss.....Is this my age? can fillers help? I'm a healthy BMI If I gain a few and stay in the healthy BMI category would it help?

I think you look great in both photos. It may take a few more months up to a year before everything settles and skin snaps back. If that doesn't happen, you can always explore fillers. I am getting Botox around my eyes as a reward when I hit goal.

I have had botox a couple of times, once before my wedding and once before my honeymoon (10 months after the wedding).

I haven't had it since but would be happy to do so if needed. You look lovely in both photos but it should be how you feel rather than what we think. I hope I look as good as you when I am at goal!!

I think you look great.

If you want to change up your look, before you do something extreme, why not try a new hairstyle or try some new makeup just for fun.

I agree, it just might take some time to really see yourself and feel comfortable with the new you.

Thanks ladies!!!!. I will wait a few months to see if my skin snaps back. If not I think I will check into fillers. Never thought about botox. I am goggling my local doctors that do botox today.

Honestly, I think you look perfect just the way you are ! Im not sure what you are /were expecting face wise after you lost the weight, but I think you look like a healthy , happy 40 something , normal sized lady . Your skin looks perfect ! Maybe before the extreme idea of Botox, treat yourself to a visit at a Aesthetician for a beauty treatment and some professional advice ? Either way , congrats on your weight loss !

I agree, you look great! Unfortunately, us ladies in our 40's will have to deal with the ravages of time. Some deal with it without letting it bother them too much, some like to pursue other options...the nip/tuck or a little botox. I'm not opposed to either when the time comes.

You are quite a bit thinner than I am, so I still have a little plumpness to my face. I think if I got down to your weight my 48 years would definitely show. I'll see how low I go weight wise and take it from there. If you find a good doctor who does botox in our area, let me know ;)

After I lost weight, I noticed that overnight very fine wrinkles covered my whole face. I'm old (66) but I looked like I was 100 years old. I was disappointed with the effect of the surgery on my face. My wife suggested using a moisturizer called BioOil which I purchased at CVS. I bought it and used it and began looking young again.

You have dropped almost half your former weight. Probably need to let your body catch up.

I think the others are right that you should give it a little time. Sometimes as we lose weight, it just gets distributed in an odd fashion for a little while and then things even out a bit better. I've noticed this throughout all of my past weight loss and this time around as well. Plus, the skin *can* bounce back a little with time. So if you are unhappy with how you look right now (I don't think you should be, but I understand that's a very personal thing), maybe just wait a couple more months before doing anything drastic.

P.S. I forgot to mention, besides visiting an Aesthetician for skin care ( I ve never done it but would if necessary ) you might want to look at different makeup ( foundation ). I like that Revlon New Complexion Foundation is a creme makeup , (better for moisture ) it gives good coverage , non drying and has a SPF 15. Love it !

When I first made goal I thought I looked a lot older than I did when I was obese. Now, months later, I feel that my face has adjusted to the weight loss and has lost the Skeletor look. But this is all probably more in my head than reality. People didn't see me as I saw myself. When I told my husband that I thought I was looking better, he said I looked fine all along.

One word: Bad Lighting.

The lighting in those two photographs is hugely different. In the second one, it's from up above, which drops shadows on either side of your mouth and elsewhere.

If you took a photograph of your face right now with no glaring light dropping down from above (as the light was in the pre-op photo) I think you'd see a very different kind of image.

As Elizabeth Taylor said, when asked the difference between the movies and real life: "Bad lighting and no score."

:)

I am right there with you, my face makes me self conscious but I think as much of it is my age as my weight. I've waited eight months and the skin has bounced back some but not all.

I am considering Botox and an ultrasound therapy for my neck.

@jenn1. I think there is a bit of confusion as many mentioned Botox. Botox is all good to relax lines at eye level and above but based on the pictures you need to ask a doctor or medi-spa about a filler like Juvederm or Restalyne. Those are for under eye and down.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
