That's good to hear. I have Dr. Holden. I pray she is as good as Dr Kim.

When is your surgery? Which hospital will you be at? I was at the new Destiny center in Frisco that Dr. Kim opened recently. It was super clean/nice and all of the staff was amazing!

I went home 8\4\15 because I walked alot around the unit and drinking hot tea didn't make me nauseous or vomit. There were a few ppl who had their surgery before me that was still there though.

So glad to hear how well you are doing! Sending positive thought your way that you continue to quickly heal!

I don't have a date yet. I'm approved but Melissa is my insurance specialist and I can't get her to get it done. (Long story)

Anyway, if I don't take my approval elsewhere, I will be at Baylor trophy club. I never heard of the Destiny center. Sounds nice. I only went to Frisco twice. All my other appintments were in Colleyville. I'm glad it went well for you :)

I had my surgery August 3 as well ! In grapevine tx by dr matin he was awesome ! And I was home by 4pm the next day and I'm doing ok! But I gain weight due all the iv fluids they gave me, did that happen to anybody else??

It is extremely common to gain weight. I don't intend on weighing myself until my follow up appointment with my surgeon next week.

Good luck on your journey!

@@BrownEyedTxGirl How are you feeling today ?

Feeling ok. Walking and sipping as much as I can. Got in all my Water yesterday but no Protein. Not doing so well with water today but did get in 20g of protein. I am scared of drinking too much at one time. It's like I am way too cautious with my new stomach and I can't even imagine eating real food again. The thought of an actual Protein Shake is even too much for me. I am taking it one day at a time...one sip and one step at a time.

Unbelievable!!!!!!! I hope I am that lucky when I have my surgery!!!!! Why were you released so early? I thought everyone usually stayed at least 2 days.

My surgeon tries to have everyone out same day. I have Dr. David Kim and he is amazing!

@ yes I am on the private FB page.

ok great. I just talked to the surgery scheduling person. I really felt like I needed to share with her my experience thus far and for some reason I thought she would appreciate me being honest. She was very defensive pretty much told me that I didn't know what I was talking about. How could I not know what I experienced? Anyway, even though I have been approved for over a month, I still have no surgery date. I told her that I would call her back to schedule my date after Sept 1st when my FSA kicked in. I really want to be healthy and get off of all these meds and everything else that comes with WLS. I hate that I'm not excited anymore because of having to deal with non-compassionate people. Did any of you experience this with kim bariactric?

@@nomoremeds, you will learn about how to get in the group in your pre-op class. Once you get scheduled for a surgery date, that is when you will get your pre-op class date. You can't be in the private FB group until you have surgery.

How do we get in that support group. I have Dr. Holden.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
