Sleeved this morning - I feel amazing!

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery this morning at 7:30am. When they woke me up in recovery I had killer gas pains in my abdomen and left shoulder. I used my pain pump generously and did a lot of moaning.

The next thing I knew I was in my room and sleeping while the nurses bustled around me. I remember using my pain pump a few more times. The belly gas pains were gone and the shoulder gas was more an annoyance than painful. Then I told them I needed to use the bathroom to pee. They told me I'd only been out of recovery for an hour so I would need to use a bedpan. No thank you! They were extremely hesitant to let me get up and walk so soon but I needed to use the toilet. They did hover over me the entire time I was peeing because they were afraid I would fall forward and land on the floor. I was fine! They were shocked that I was doing so well, absolutely no pain, nausea, or dizziness.

I then went back to bed and slept until 2 or 3, never using the pain pump. At 3 I got up to use the bathroom again and this is when I felt the searing pain in my abs. It felt like I'd done 500 crunches. In all my months of research and reading the forums I had somehow never come across even a mention of ab pain. Seriously, it's BAD. But only when in get up or need to move in my bed. Just laying in bed I don't feel it.

I then took a lap around the hospital floor. My nurses were in awe of me. My vitals have been amazing all day and I haven't used the pain pump since morning. My surgeon came to check on me and was so impressed that he's already cleared me to go home tomorrow instead of Wednesday.

Aside from the ab pain I feel amazing, like I didn't even have surgery. I came in thinking it would be a breeze and it has been! I just wanted to share because it's been such a great experience for me.

Time to drink another refreshing ounce of water! Looking forward to Jello and popsicles in the morning!

I'm still doing great! I was released a day early and got home yesterday evening. I spent the night in my recliner, slept pretty well, and sipped on Water every time I woke up. Today (Wednesday, surgery was Monday) I had 3 shakes throughout the day and got in 58 grams of protein! I thought that was pretty awesome for my first day home. I did overdo a bit when I took my 3 kids to the dentist, which was a 20-minute drive away. I needed to take an oxycodone and collapsed in my chair when we got home.

And my husband surprised me with a Fitbit Charge today. :)

So far, so good!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
