Dr put me on strange diet and I have questions

Recommended Posts

My surgeon had me drinking Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch, then lean cuisine for dinner to get my weight down quick. It wasn't fun, and prob wouldn't be good for a long period, but you are in this for your long term health... I went along with him, lost almost 50 and had my rny done. I also have hypothyroidism and weighed similar to you to start

If you wanna chat let me know... anything I can be helpful with I'm here :) in the end, trust yourself and trust the process. .

When I had lap band done my surgeon had me do the same diet 1.5 weeks pre-op. I lost around 10 lbs.

Thank you for the input. So far, it seems to be working fairly well.. I am down 20lbs in 2 weeks. :)

The pre-op diet my surgeon uses and that the NUT gave me was pretty much the same as what your doctor is saying. I was to drink a Protein shake for breakfast or eat eggs, have either 3 oz of lean Protein and a salad or a WW or Lean Cuisine meal with a salad. Same for dinner.

The deal with the Lean Cuisine was that it had to have at least 30 grams of protein and be under 300 calories.

@@hockeyfan7 - 30g of Protein? I wasn't aware that LC had anything with that much protein. Which ones are you eating?

I would go see a different doctor. Sorry, but nope.

Sorry - that was 20 grams of Protein, not 30 for the Lean Cuisine. But they have some new ones labeled as high Protein. I haven't checked them out yet.

So..... My my humble opinion says that if you tell your doctor you really do NOT want to eat processed foods and you'd prefer to make your own meals while staying within the calories/protein/fat/carbs of the meals he prescribes, he would be thrilled.

I have been known to grab a Lean Cuisine if I am in a pickle, but I am RARELY in a pickle since my WLS. I am NOT going to waste my precious room on highly processed, fake food. Protein, veggies and complex carbs can be had with a bit of effort, the frozen option just makes it easier.

Talk to your doctor, I am sure he would understand your desire to change his plan a bit.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
