So on friday I'll be 2 months post op... and I'm going to the beach with some friends for the weekend. What do you guys think I can drink? (alcohol) just a little bit.

Sure....just watch if it has carbonation. Carbonation can HURT!

Try to find something lower carb and lower sugar. Skinny Girl makes some good stuff. I had my first drink at 4 months out-a Bloody Mary-and I couldn't finish it and didn't even get a buzz! Since then, I really have no interest, lol. I may pick it back up once I'm to goal.

@@Babbs is right you can drink but not very much and depending on what it is. I tried cranberry and vodka and couldn't do it because it was too sweet. Then I tried a beer and one sip filled my stomach with air. Tried a shot of makers mark....oh boy that was horrible! I felt the burn all the way inside. lol but yeah you can drink, not much but you can if you find the right drink for you. I'm still trying to find mine.

8 weeks out and had my first one last week. I DID get a buzz so be careful. Definitely no carbonation and do realize those are empty calories and full of sugar. Enjoy in moderation!

As ShrinkingPeach said, be careful with the amounts you drink. I've never been much of a drinker, but post-op, it REALLY doesn't take much to get me hammered! And it hits me fast too. I'm a happy drunk, so I tend to enjoy the effects it has on me. :-P

If you are going to have anything with carbonation, try pouring it over ice first. And sip real slow, I can still remember how little I could eat at one time when I was at 2 months... I was only able to eat 1/2 cup of food per meal. Frankensleeve was still swollen and cranky!

I waited until 5.5 months post-op to have a real glass of wine (a full 4 ounces).

I'm glad I waited, because after that I started having a glass of wine 5 nights a week.

Actually, it didn't slow my weight loss at that point, because by then I was already up to 1,000 cals/day. But at 800 cals/day (what I was eating Months 2-4) I think I'd have lost some necessary nutrition.

But that was just my experience. You do what you think you should do. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
