Check with your bariatric doc first. But ask him/her if you can add a benedryl with it! I'm no doctor by any means... But II've done both according to my Dr's orders. I will throw this in... If you're taking Ambien long term, id switch to Melatonin. It's MUCH BETTER than Ambien, it costs maybe 5$ if you get the Walmart kind????????

I've actually had the opposite experience. I used to take a Benedryl every night to help me sleep. I took a liquid dose of it for the first 2-3 nights after I came home, and I found that it took effect really fast, post surgery. Like in 20 minutes, I was ready to conk out.

I stopped taking it (just didn't like that feeling). Ever since (three weeks post op today), I've not even needed help to fall asleep or stay asleep. Not sure if that's a result of losing a few pounds or what, but I'm happy about it.

*IF* your surgeon approves it, try the liquid Benadryl. It tastes good and works quickly (probably due to the fact that it's liquid).

I swear that's what happens to me. I was taking medication for hives and all of the sudden right after surgery it stopped working. I did noticed that when I took it and didn't eat or drink after for about 20 minutes....it works again. Idk I'd its a mental thing, but its working for me.

I was taking a medication for depression for years before surgery. After surgery it seemed to stop working and things were really bad for awhile. My dr. even increased the dose and it still didn't help. Finally he switched me to a new med and it has made all the difference in the world. I would definitely talk to your doc and see if there might be something else you can try.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
