I managed to get approved at 34BMI, but I won't lie--I had a roll of quarters in my pocket at the last visit! :)

Bostonhopeful- that is hilarious!! I didn't have any trouble on the BMI issue. I was more than qualified :/. My good news for today- since Monday of this past week, I lost 19 lbs! Granted, at least 12 of those were Water weight lbs from the IV fluids. I retained a lot of water from the hospital.

Hi Mandynette! I had rny 6/15/15!

hey there! How is it going for you? I'm almost 2 weeks down now! Seems like longer but also seems like it's just a short time too. Weird like that!

I feel the exact same way! I will be a month out as of Wednesday. I feel like my surgery was a lifetime ago! But at the same time I feel like it was yesterday.

Surgery date August 24th, a little nervous, scared yet so happy that I'm almost there. Mentally preparing myself for 2wk diet which starts August 10th.

You have a date! That's exciting! Not going to lie- the two week liquid diet is hard, especially the first few days. But after day 2 or 3, I got in a zone. I journal, and I think that helped me the most. Before my two week shake diet, I had to do 2 months of a Keto diet. I think that was harder because I was still allowed to eat! Taking the option away was easier for me at least. I did have a "last meal" before the two weeks of just shakes. I sure didn't tell my surgeon that though! ???? You are so close! My fiancé and I were just saying, the whole pre-op process was so stressful and at times, nerve wracking. But it has been much less stressful in the past week for sure and for that, we are thankful! I haven't had complications thus far and hoping to stay that way. Has your doctor required anything else besides the two week diet? Is it a liquid diet?

Have you had any complications? Seen success? I am thinking it is probably a good thing that it is feeling like it's been awhile because it's become part of me and my new "normal." Perhaps that means it really has been a life style change. I hope at least for me!

My two week diet is the liquid diet, istarted drinking shakes yesterday just to get into the habit of drinking 1 shake a day up until Aug. 10th when the liquid diet actually starts. Wishing you continued successful recovery.

Me too! I am still trying to figure outthis whole forum thing. I've never done anything like this - but I am finding the more people I tell - the more support I get! Surgery is scheduled for August 12. Just started the liver shrink diet - shakes for Breakfast and lunch with small fruit as Snacks then lean 2-4 oz Protein and vegetable for dinner. I already have a headache - hope it goes away!

How is everyone else doing!?

What do you write about in your journal? why do you think it has helped?

I write about things I'm proud I did that day, related to weight loss and not. I also write about things I want to work on and challenges that day. As far as challenges go, I write why I feel it's challenging. Usually that takes me something I really have struggled with and helps me get to the root, especially with weight loss. And then I write goals for the next day, and once a week, bigger goals, and once a month, even bigger goals. But they are always measurable goals. That part is important. And not just "I want to lose 'x amount' of weight." More like - "I will walk 'x amount' of miles this week." Or "I will go to the gym 'x' times. And I always try to include other goals non-weight loss related. Keeps me positive! It also keeps me accountable. Just like keeping a food log, but for your mental health!

Hi! I had RNY June 8th. I can't believe it's been almost 2 months. My surgery weight was 338 and I just hit 299 this Monday. Amazing feeling, I've been stuck in the 300s for the past 3-4 years. I still have such a long way to go, but I feel great. I haven't felt this good in years. I have so much more energy! :)

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
