What is a full feeling

Recommended Posts

What do you experience. For me, I get what is a pulsating feeling in my stomach (like a heartbeat) then I feel a tightness. If I continue, I feel pain. Sometimes if I eat really small, I get a feeling like a small pea is logded in my throat. Anyone else like me??? or is there another feeling I should be experiencing???? Doddie

I am still learning to listen to my body, but full is when I feel the first twinge of hiccups coming on. That is my signal to stop eating NOW.

I just feel, well, full like I did before banding. I stop before I feel REALLY full though. Unlike before banding, lol.

I dont really get any cues to tell me I am full other than feeling full and knowing that if I eat anymore I will be uncomfortable.

I try to stop eating when I am somewhere between satisfied and "I knew I should not have had that last bite".

I, much like Andrew, stop eating when I am satisfied I've had enough. The most uncomfortable feeling happens when "I knew I should not have had that last bite". :rolleyes

I just had my second fill on Tuesday and am feeling a little more restriction than I did before but still have not had the "full feeling"

By satisfied I mean looking down at your plate and not wanting anymore of what is on it. I've learned to do that since I still do not get the full feeling. If I were to eat until I felt full I'm afraid I'd be over eating.

My post op diet mainly consists of a piece of Protein the size of a deck of cards and vegetables on a small plate. The first thing Dr. Mumford suggested I do was change the size of my plate. He said it's important for your frame of mind. I now use a small plate and fill it as opposed to using a larger one and having it half empty. When I eat Pasta I use a small Cereal boul.

I'm going on day 3 after my second fill and find that I can feel the slightest restriction...that's very exciting for me.

Thanks Puddy. I think I am in the proper proportions. For instance, I had 2 oz of chicken breast, 1/2 cup broccoli and 1 small potatoe. I did not eat the potatoe. Agan I got the pulsating feeling so I stopped. I think it is what you mean by being satisfied. In the past, when I felt the feeling, I continued to eat until I felt the pain. Thanks again. Doddie

I'm on the mush(started day and a half earlier, but taking it slow)

I don't so much feel full like I used to, I just get to a point where I dont want anymore. That usually happens after 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup of something.

I dont want to eat alot, as I'm afraid of the dreaded band slippage

The fear is a wonderful back up until you are able to get comfortable with small bites, small portions and chewing your food. Believe me you get to forget you have the band until you make a boo boo then it bites. Doddie

Consafo you have the right idea. As I am eating I get this feeling in between my stomach and my throat (I think) a sort of stuck feeling although very very mildly and I take that as my warning that my pouch is full. My head ( much less so now) usually is screaming NO WAY EAT MORE but I know it is a very BAD idea to do so. I have heard it called the soft warning and I think that is what I feel.

I'm on the mush stage and yesterday I went for Breakfast at a restaurant, couldn't get out of it. Up came my scrambled eggs the size of Ontario, well, you guessed it I over ate. I didn't manage to much but I felt terrible for a few hours after, I had a stich in my side and now I feel I've messed myself up. I felt fine later and do now I went very easy for the rest of the day. Do you think I will have caused any trouble? I'm feeling so P****ed off with myself.

If you have any doubts whatsoever, call the clinic. That's what you paid all that money for. Good luck. They will warn you about eggs. We think that because they are mushy we don't have to chew so much. NOT!

eggs are tricky. I eat them, but I actually find that I am find that I am better with poached or sunnyside up. For some reason scrambled dont really sit well with me.

Even though they feel mushy you still gotta chew the heck outta them.

Dont beat yourself up. This wont be the first time you find a food that does not work for you. Chalk it up to experience and move on.

That will be my biggest challenge once banded next week... it will be several wks before I can eat solids but having thise guidelines from you experts will be VERY helpful.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
