My surgery is scheduled for next week. However, I hadn't realized that I haven't been on a plane in over 5-6 years and I don't know what the protocol is for overweight people. I currently weigh 238 and I'm 5'2. Those of you that had surgery in Mexico, did you need to purchase 2 seats? Thank you.

What is your BMI? I'm 5' 7.5" & weighed 254 on the way to MX. I was fine with one seat & the seat belt fit me fine. I was very uncomfortable on the way home because of a bit of swelling. If you're on a pre-op diet then you will likely lose a few pounds by then.

Some airlines do, but depends on how big you are, I understand your weight and height but can't figure it out how big is that, what I used to do is seat in the emergency exits.

Thank you for responding. My bmi is 43 right now. I am on the pre-op diet now so hopefully I will lose some more weight by then.

I was up to a bmi of 51 and I was just a bit squished when flying, especially when I was next to another heavy person. When you check in at the airport, you can ask if you could switch to a seat with an empty seat next to it. If the belt doesn't fit, the attendant can give you an extension. They have always been very discreet about it with me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
