Hair issues - 15 months out. Is this the new normal post WLS?

Recommended Posts

I asked the surgeon about the Hair loss and he looked at me and said I wouldn't notice it. My hair is curly (used to be thick until about 10 years ago) and now I have a lot of grey hair. Doc said if I wasn't losing some. hair (and tired) then I wasn't working the program. He said most feel tired and some lose hair if they are working the program because the body goes into shock because of the dramatic change in diet. Makes sense. Just sucks. My husband had no idea about either post surgical side effect and was surprised at both the questions and answers. It was THE only two I had - hair loss & lack of energy.

@@shellyd88 you said "and to add insult to injury my weight loss has slowed a lot last three weeks is about three lbs a week before was at least 6 lbs a week I'm down about 90 lbs since surgery in late February"

Honey, that is fantastic! I'm sorry about your hair though. Take some of the suggestions of others and in the meantime, wear a wig when you go out.

I guess it just seems so small compared to how it was at first I'm most nervous about seeing the dr and getting criticized for not losing more they tend to be very critical there they said I should lose 25 to 30 lbs a month that's not really happening so kind of feeling a lot of pressure and anxiety

I lost quite a bit of hair, and now my naturally straight and fine hair seems to be coming back curly and thick. I've always wanted curly hair, but if I ever got a perm, my hair would frizz and be very damaged, so no perms for me. All I do now is put a bit of styling mousse in my hair and scrunch it. Looks like I have a perm! Whenever it rains though... pooof it goes frizzy!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
