Crushed vs Whole Pills

Recommended Posts

I was told I could start taking my pills whole at 6 weeks, which will be next Monday. Any advice or thoughts? Were you able to just start taking them whole no problem?

I was taking whole pills with no problem within a couple hours of surgery. Unless they are giant pills like Calcium or Vitamins, I doubt you'll have any trouble at all. I've never been fond of giant pills and surgery didn't exactly help, so I've stuck with chewable vitamins and Citracal Petites for calcium.

I was taking whole pills from the day I was released from the hospital. My pain meds and acid blocker were even pills.

I'm 4 weeks out today and I've been taking my big ole Calcium horse pills with no problems since last week. I've been taking the smaller pills whole 4th day after surgery. Crushed pills are gross.

They're pretty small, nothing to large. Do ya'll take them all at on e or space them out? Sorry, for all the questions! I really appreciate the advice!

My program also says crush everything until six weeks out.

I only ever spaced pills out if they needed to be for the drugs or Vitamins to work effectively. For example, I spaced out my Iron supplements and omeprazole by at least 3 hours because PPI's can reduce the absorption of iron. Things like that.

I was swallowing small pills the last day in the hospital (day 3) and medium sized pills after that (day 4).

*****Please check with your pharmacist before you take any crushed or dissolved pills. Anything that is an extended release should not be crushed. You probably should not crush anything that is buffered or enteric coated as that also may change the efficacy.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
