Blue Cross of Florida just crushed my dreams

Recommended Posts

I have BCBS and it specifically says that bariatric surgery is not covered.

I'm being sleeved in Mexico in a few more days for just a little bit more money than what my out of pocket maximum would have been even if they covered this surgery.

Good luck!

I too have BCBS from a state different than where I live, because our home offices are in TN. Their requirement was 6 months of weight-loss counseling before they would even consider paying for my WLS and there was no guarantee they would pay for it even then. I wanted the least invasive surgery possible which was Gastric Plication, which is NOT covered by any US insurance. Even if I had gone for the Gastric Sleeve and BCBS covered it, I would have paid over 3k more, to have a surgery I didn't really want, than I paid going to Mexico. Dr Juan Lopez thru BariatricPal was my surgeon in Tijuana. I could not have chosen a better Dr. He actually listened to and accepted my reasons for wanting the Gastric Plication rather than the sleeve. Surgery was flawless as was the care I received while there. The whole BaritricPal team - coordinators, doctors and hospital staff - all spoke English. So if going to Mexico for WLS is scary, do a lot of research and reach out to those of us who have gone to Mexico. It took me 6 months to make the decision - Dr, coordination team, money etc - and I do not regret going there.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
