Hello! Just had Lapband!

Recommended Posts

I had Lapband 6/2/15 so I am 4 days post op and have lost 9 pounds so far. The pain hasn't been so bad but I don't really have the urge to eat anything or drink anything. Did anybody else experience this? My doctor has me on a 2 week liquid diet and I have a feeling it is going to very difficult for me. Any input or suggestions for living with a band would be great! Thanks! :)

You might be surprised how well you do. The main thing to remember is stay hydrated, even if you have to sip slowly, make sure you get plenty of liquids.. Also walk as much as you can and if you get the shoulder gas pains, use a heating pad it really helped me. Important to remember that you did have surgery, take it easy don't overdo and follow your Doctor's instructions. Best of luck to you and I hope you have a good recovery. For problems with Constipation, use milk of magnesia or good ole prune juice.

Sounds spot on to me. Two weeks of liquids post op for me too, many years ago now. Just keep sipping those liquids you're allowed to have. This is a very important time in your process, allowing everything time to heal properly. In a few short days, you'll probably be allowed to progress to mushies = HEAVEN! Don't worry about not having the urge to eat... It'll probably come soon enough!

Congrats on your surgery and best wishes on your success! :)

Thank you so much! I've been dealing with the shoulder gas pains and have been taking GasX and it has helped.

Congratulations -- sounds like you're doing beautifully. I was not hungry early on and when I was it was time for a gorilla assessment with my doctor. I'm convinced the excellent follow up is where it's at. Keep all your appointments and keep listening in to your body. Best wishes!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
