I finally had my bypass yesterday! I am now sitting in my private hospital suite with a wall of windows overlooking the city....one of the perks of working for the hospital is that you get your own room! For the moat part I am OK but i have sharp, stabbing pains on my left side. The PA says it is probably gas pains. They are switching me from IV morphine to liquid oxycodone for pain management so hopefully that will help. Overall, my experience has been excellent and my Doc is really please with my surgery. I have been out and about walking the halls and am starting to feel normal again. But I am not hungry, which is great because I was starving yesterday kn nothing but Clear Liquids until my surgery at 300 pm. Just hoping the pains in my side start ro get better soon.

Congrats on your surgery!! I had bypass on 5/27 and am doing great but I still feel like someone is stabbing me with a knife in my left side ???? and I don't think it's gas. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

That was my experience exactly! Congrats. The oxy is great. I took it round the clock even if the pain was fine because once it flares up you want to die. I stopped about 3 days after I got home and then took it once or twice at night only. My only advice is don't overdo movement even when you feel good. I definitely have been and I am sooooo sore by the end of the day Lol. I'm two weeks post op!

I had surgery 5/22 and too am still having the pains in the left side. Doc said that's where the work is done and the biggest tool is maneuvered so it's normal. Hang in there it will get better every day. Keep moving but don't try to do too much too quickly.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
