My hair is coming out in clumps. I take my Biotin and get a minimum of 60g Protein daily. I'm 5 months out from sleeve as of last week. When will it stop? It's scary!!! I'm a female so bald isn't sexy like it is on men!

@@Gladys62 - this is my only fear post-op. My surgeon said it is normal and most everyone loses hair. It should stop after about 3 months. I have started looking at hats!

Just think Protein Protein PROTEIN...mines started about 6 or 7 months post op and I am finally seeing it deminish now (1 year post op - 6 months after it started falling). Get it cut, it helps and take your Biotin, it will be fine, you won't be bold, you'll see....

I had my surgery 8 mos ago. I lost a lot of hair too and my doc told me it would peak at about 6 to 8 months then stop. That's exactly what happened! It is scary but I never lost so much that I had baldness or bald spots. I lost my hair starting at the front and then it sort of moved towards the back of my head then stopped. Take your biotin! I don't think it stopped the Hair loss but it seems to greatly improve how fast the hair grows back. And your nails grow faster and seem healthier also. I know it's distressing but it WILL grow back. Hang in there!

Mine started falling out around 3 months and now I am 7 months and it's pretty much stopped. I have been taking Biotin and getting my Protein in. I also cut it in a short chin length bob. Pretty much the only down fall of the surgery for me :)

Oh boy, yeah - mine thinned out a LOT. People can notice the thinning on top now, so I had to move my part around and I've been either wearing a ponytail to cover it or using thickening spray to "poof" it up some. Getting plenty of Protein, taking Vitamins, extra Biotin, etc but it hasn't slowed the loss any, just helped me grow new flyaways faster. I'm just over 6 months out and it's finally starting to slow but hasn't gotten back to a pre-op level of loss yet.

Thank you all for the info! It has me distressed!! I'm faithful with the Biotin for the past 3 weeks for sure. Before that I was pretty good but I missed some. And I am making sure to get Protein at LEAST 60g on a bad day. More when possible.

I did cut it to chin length. So I'm doing what I can. I just need to know it eventually stops! Or slows down!! Is it from the lack of protein?

Or I should say the decrease of protein.

Fyi my nutritionist says that MANY Protein Shakes inaccurately report the protein content. They tested some of them and they claimed 25 and only had 5! Maybe that is the problem.

I can't reply to a quote correctly it appears! Sorry!

I use the powders from GNC. The premixed upset my stomach. Have you heard anything on them. I like Cellulacor and GNC amplified wheybolic. Any feedback on those? That may be it. I am not much on meat and eggs make me sick now.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
