Seeing everyone else's success is a great help as I was feeling somewhat frustrated with not knowing if my weight loss was slow or typical.

June 16th surgery date in Mexico.

HW 325 SW 298 CW 234.

I feel great no more back or knee pain, stopped snoring so my wife is pleased and much better energy levels. attachicon.gifImageUploadedByBariatricPal1444660376.534792.jpg

You look great! My husband is sleeping better now, too, since I've stopped snoring.

What I've learned so far in this process is that there is no such thing as "typical" in WLS... everyone's experience varies so much, you really can't compare yourself to others.

What keeps all of you on track? Could use some people to chat with and stay motivated! Happy with my progress haven't needed to really try to hard up to this point been a natural weight loss a little slower than I would like but fairly easy so far...down 50 lbs total 60 to go need some partners!

Like @@DisneyDreaming, I use MyFitnessPal to keep track of everything I eat and drink. I also have my husband take photos of my progress each month (no glamour shots, just front, side, and back mug-shot pics, always wearing a black tank top and bike shorts) and write down my measurements each month also.

Hi guys!

Surgery date 6/21/15

Highest weight: 190 lbs

Current weight: 150 lbs

I am so happy! I have so much more confidence. Ill have my blood work next week and I'm excited to see if my cholesterol has gone down. I still struggle with my fluids and Protein intake, but I'm working on it.

Just an update...I'm down 80 pounds since surgery date June 8...it is hard to believe!!

Doing well, not really looking forward to cold/flu season ( I'm a teacher) as I can't just "take" meds.

Starting weight: 233

Current weight: 153

Thanks for all the support June sleevers!

Hello all, I've been doing ok, Dr is happy with progress.

HW 307 4/1/15

SW 289 6/1/15

Last weight check 225 10/1/15

So, I'm 60% down from goal at 4 months. I would like to be goal by Christmas. Loss has slowed considerably, had a unrelated surgery, a month out and was just able to really excersise this past 3 weeks (that's when loss slowed). Anyone else loose less the more they do? Do I need more calories/protein? I get 60 to 70 a day.

Sleeved the same day, down 121. I just eat my Protein, and stick to under 20gtams of carbs a day. Usually under 10 grams. I also get allot of Water every day. I'm a teacher, so walking is a given, but haven't done any other exercise.

Checking in at 11 months post surgery. I'm down 90 pounds and have dropped from size 20 to size 10. Mostly I'm grateful to be able to move easily between desks in the classroom, to have energy all day long, and to feel comfortable in my own skin. I can bend down and pull weeds in the garden. Imagine that! I don't love the attention my new shape attracts. I know that people feel the need to say something, but I'm completely over the "You look great" and "What's your secret?" Especially from people who have never struggled with morbid obesity in their lives. Anyway, I feel great. How are you folks doing?

I am down 98 pounds, and am struggling to get to 100 by my check up on June 16. I went from a size 24/22 to a size 10 and I actually went and bought a couple of pairs of shorts this weekend. I haven't worn shorts in 25 years!!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
